If I give somebody £2 for unspecified reasons, or even reasons other than a lottery ticket, and they go buy a lottery ticket with that very £2 and win. Congrats, your winnings.
Somebody asks me for £2 specifically to buy a lottery ticket, I say sure thing boss but if you win big you’re honour bound to water me.
Somebody asks me to buy a lottery ticket and give it to them, absolutely not. K_B only buys lottery tickets for one bitch (well I guess two bitches because there’s Her Indoors but we’re married and as far as money goes we are the same person)

being gifted lottery tickets for the big xmas draw here is a long standing tradition.
I had tickets from Lugo, Barcelona, Vigo and Ourense this year. won nothing.
