Think I’ve left it too late to make a I Want To Know What Love Is joke. Gutted.

Have been rewatching Breaking Bad, in my defence. Yay science!

This is beginning to sound like one of those wartime “Britain needs YOU” poster with that bloke pointing at I.

What I like most about this thread is how difficult to read the OP is

If that’s your experience then you are clearly in my target audience.

Sorry didn’t mean to be snitty. It’s just that the necessity for lots of quotes and partial sentences made it a very jerky read.

And I still haven’t seen a single example of what you’re referring to on here.

In potentially* more interesting news, here is a really nice article that covers adjective order, vowel sequence order, tenses and word stress (seriously, it is properly interesting):

Like most English people of my generation I’m ignorant of grammar rules but in the reality of everyday usage this is one of those cases where you may see it written down but are very unlikely to hear it said.

The only time I have every heard anyone say ‘my partner and I’ is in a faux ‘posh’ English accent in reference to the Queen saying ‘My husband and I’ (I have no idea if the Queen ever said that but it is what people say when they impersonate her for some reason).

But written down it may be more natural to write ‘my partner and I’ than ‘me and my partner’, depending on the context of the sentence of course.

Sounds like finding these could be a job for a team of off duty detectives. The case of the erroneous “And I”

The giraffe, the pelly and I

Are you as annoyed as me that in American films even street thugs say “…and I” thus betraying that the film was written by some middle class ponce from Harvard.

IT IS NICE TO TALK TO YOU. HAVE A GOOD DAY.
