I’m surprised the Scully disappearing arc was this early on in the show’s life. Always felt it came up a bit later. It’s kind of odd how Mulder and Scully are really well drawn characters and yet the episodes where the focus is more on them specifically (rather than them kind of responding to a one-off story) tend to be really boring and hard going
Just watched a great ‘what if a child was evil’ episode, and then straight to ‘Roland’ which is deeply uncomfortable.

“Sorry, nobody down here but the FBI’s most unwanted!”
Were the two reboot series’ good? Remembered they were a thing before and have got an urge to rewatch. There’s a vague memory of some of them being excellent and others being hilariously bad, but might be misremembering.
I remember the first of the new seasons settling in over time once it let itself get a bit sillier
Great bit with Mulder taking shrooms
Very up and down. The Chris Carter lore episodes were all absolutely terrible but a lot of the monster-of-the-week episodes were pretty decent at the minimum. The two Darin Morgan ones in particular were excellent (if you like your comedy X-Files - and I do.)
Cheers.
I can’t remember exactly where I put it down. I think it might’ve been somewhere around where Scully was working in the desert for some reason. I put a random episode on last night (Daemonicus, S9E3), and don’t remember seeing it before, okay, not great, not terrible, but think I’m just going to watch from there and redo the two newer seasons.
Really I just want to wipe my memory and watch the first…four series again, but alas…
I can’t sleep due to work nonsense, so I’ve just put a random episode on (El Mundo Gira, S4E11). It’s got both Tuco from Breaking Bad and someone from Fear the Walking Dead in it, further proving my theory that literally everyone was in the X-Files at some point.
Watched one of Vince Gilligans first episodes the other day
So fkn good
Pusher
Not normally a big fan of the more comedic episodes, but caught this again the other day, and if you’re looking for just a very silly hour of telly it’s pretty good. Sensational part by the Flight of the Conchords fella, some of his dialogue’s fantastic.
Been marathoning xfiles for a while now. Episode or two most nights. Midway through series 6.
It’s entertaining for the most part.
Picked up the Lone Gun Men boxset from a charity shop not so long ago. Looking forward to watching that between S8 and S9.
nanjiani was so scared about being in the show. i reckon id be the same
Where is that from?
reddit, probably fake tbh. conspiracy!
It would be a surprising thing. Gillian Anderson seemed done with X-files when she was talking on David Duchovny’s podcast.
That’s what They want you to think
I’m quite up for rewatching the x-files, is there a point where it feels satisfying to stop, like season 1-3? Or does it actually stay good after that?
I’m still working my way through the library. Half way through series 9 at the moment. Quality has dropped off significantly. There are still good episodes, but the overachieving plot is beyond parody.
I think maybe end of Series 8 is where to stop.
