Yeule

As the resident yeule superfan I guess it’s up to me to start the thread. Not listened to them yet? YOU SHOULD.

Glitch Princess was my fav album of last year, all their back catalogue is great, and they’re back with an EP released last week, with a new album to come in September. Doing a tour after that, playing in London 11 December.

New EP is way more guitar oriented than previous work, and more in the direction of Don’t Be So Hard On Your Own Beauty (ie their best song) in its emo vibes. It’s really, really good tho, Dazies and Sulky Baby are proper tunes.

Had no idea this was coming, Glitch Princess is so so good.

Cool, saw promotion for a new album on the socials but missed the EP. Will check it out.

Oh, and they’re on Ninja Tune now. Nice.

So this is amazing right, it’s not just me? That opening of x w x, sulky baby and Softscars is as good an opening as anything I’ve heard for years

Took me ages to get into glitch princess cos of the annoying opening track

I like it now but think the new one sounds better

Yeah, loved it on my first proper listen through - the lean into 90s guitar sound on some of the songs suits them well. Though that said, the standout for me so far is bloodbunny, which isn’t entirely a surprise given KAVARI’s involvement.

They were ace live at Strange Brew the other week too.

They got a very strong writeup on Pitchfork: yeule: softscars Album Review | Pitchfork

Loving this. Feels in a similar shoegaze/alt-pop wheelhouse as Let’s Eat Grandma

Ooh I didn’t know that

yeule, but doing music I refuse to grow out of. Unsurprisingly very much enjoyed my first listen.

hate this section tho

For an artist who was raised online to choose this time to start closing their tabs and turning their metaphorical 404 errors into badges of pride feels especially meaningful

overall it did make me want to listen though so, job done

few songs in, enjoying a lot so far. Will also plug this which I think people here could like. Less experimental (think this sort of thing but headed in a St Vincent direction) but similarly dealing with identity in the digital age via the medium of glitch-meets-fuzz-guitar
