Yoga 🧘

Thinking about giving it a go. Should I go to a class or can I just do it myself?
What are the benefits? Any drawbacks?

tl;dr a stranger kept touching me and I didn’t enjoy it

Smarter than your average exercise

Pros: Nice and relaxing
Cons: Might fart in front of a lot of people in a quiet small room

yoghurt > yoga

there’s a (yoga) class on tonight at my gym. in two minds about going.

Would recommend going to a class over doing it yourself, it’s one of those things where it’s surprisingly easy to injure yourself if you do it wrong. Only real drawback is the hippy nonsense that comes along with it.

I prefer classes to Youtube videos. Less distractions and easier to tell what you’re supposed to be doing.

I had a one person class back in March and it was amazing. Still do the odd session on my own but it’s not the same.

Came out of it feeling amazing, so relaxed and more peaceful than I’ve felt for as long as I can remember.

Been intending to do yoga for about 5 years now.

It’s the kind of thing that you can do harmlessly but pretty ineffectively if you’re a centimetre out in one direction, or harmfully if you’re a centimetre out in the other direction.
Try to find a beginner’s class near you and go to it once or twice a week. Once you feel confident doing some of the poses you can also try them at home.

I’ve been doing yoga all my life and I still need my instructor to do manual adjustments to my poses most days.

This is why pilates appeals to me a lot more

(plus yoga seems to be full of really creepy guys)
