A penpal used to sign her letters off with ‘musi’ instead of love or kind regards. It’s the Estonian word for ‘kisses’, which is kind of lovely.

Always enjoyed GANBARIMASU!!! meaning “I will do my best!” from Japanese. The contestants always used to shout it at the start of a round in Takeshi’s Castle

I also like “bakero!” which means something like “You idiot!” but apparently the Japanese don’t really swear with fucks and shits all over the place, so this is much more offensive in Japan. I love watching a yakuza film with people cutting each others fingers off or shooting a rival point blank or something else extremely violent while hearing them shouting “you’ve got some nerve, idiot!” at each other

ñacurutú (nyA-cu-ru-TU)

It’s the Guaraní word for a kind of South American owl, apparently my grandma used to call my cousin’s boyfriend ñacurutú cos he had big eyes
