Your ten absolute favourite songs of all-time?

#186

‘future space sex’ is my favourite genre.

#187

biggest tragic loss to music in a decade.

#189

oh fuck

I forgot Grace’s Nipple to the Bottle in my list, I mean I didn’t forget the song I mean it was one of the songs in my head I forgot to type out

#190

With the usual I’ll change my mind in a minute blah blah blah caveat:

Red House Painters - Grace Cathedral Park
Neil Young - Cortez the Killer
Songs:Ohia - Farewell Transmission
Mark Lanegan - Carnival
Blind Melon - No Rain
Nick Drake - Northern Sky
Jesu - Silver
The Replacements - I Will Dare
The National - All the Wine
QOTSA - Avon

#191

might swap mine for Heatwave on second thoughts

#192

Lots of love for Blind Melon here! That’s even more pleasing than the love for Eels - which really shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

#193

Arcade Fire- Tunnels
Jackie Wilson- Higher
Eels- Hey Man, Now You’re Really Living
Ben E. King- Stand My Be
Broken Social Scene- Anthems For A 17 Year Old Girl
Joanna Newsom- Sawdust And Diamonds
Dan Deacon- Snookered
David Bowie- Ashes To Ashes
LCD Soundsystem- All My Friends
Titus Andronicus- The Battle of Hampton Roads

#194

This list I like.

#195

Wichita Lineman is also on my top ten, for sure. Great choice!

#196

did not expect to see the Doobie Bros. and The Cars up in here

#197

Right. Rolling up sleeves. Usual caveat apply…

Songs: Ohia - John Henry Split My Heart*
Joanna Newsom - Only Skin
Circle Takes the Square - Interview at the Ruins
Sufjan Stevens - Impossible Soul**
Converge - Jane Doe
Slint - Good Morning Captain
Mogwai - Mogwai Fear Satan
Of Montreal - The Past is a Grotesque Animal
Father John Misty - Holy S**t
65DOS - Conspiracy of Seeds

*Just going to buck the ‘Farewell Transmisson’ trend here, although as it includes the ‘Long Dark Blues’ refrain the two songs are basically companion pieces

**Is this the most popular choice overall? Has anyone done a tally?

#198

Alright. Quite Outkast-centric…

Outkast - Spottieottiedopaliscious
UGK & Outkast - Intl’ Players Anthem
The National - About Today
Kurt Vile - Runner Ups
Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built
D’Angelo - Feel Like Makin’ Love
Kanye West - Gone
Kelis ft. Andre 3000 - Gone
Frank Ocean - Swim Good
Bruce Springsteen - I’m On Fire

There are so many songs I had to leave off. This will probably change next week but I think the top 3 will always be there.

#199

For various reasons Really Love is neck and neck with anything on Voodoo for me now. But I can’t argue with Feel Like Makin’ Love.

Also I only put one of Spottie and Players Anthem purely to spice things up, but obvs they’re both up there. Also maybe my favourite Kanye joint.

#200

Choosing one D’Angelo was tough. I love almost everything on Voodoo and Black Messiah. Also rarely listen to individual tracks from both, it’s usually the whole album. Feel Like Makin Love is such a jam though.

I could have had about 50 Kanye tracks too, but have always had a soft spot for Late Registration, and Cam’ron, Consequence and Kanye all smash it. That final Ye verse might be his best ever.
