YouTube playlists

Do you ever listen to them?

They still seem like a half finished feature but getting the impression more people have their sound system built around their TV.

The most annoying thing is YouTube (rather than YouTube Music) on phone stops when you change apps - I think it continues if you’re paying?

Feels wrong continuing to have a DiS presence on Spotify but I also know how helpful it is for artists as our playlist often gets 1000s of plays which nudges the algorithm. And lots of people use Spotify to find things to buy in shops or bandcamp.

Yes - if you’re a premium member you can treat videos like podcast/music in that if you minimise the app or turn off the display the audio will continue

Nowhere near as much as I used to. Unfortunately, YouTube have really ramped up the unskippable ads in the last couple of years or so, rendering playlists mostly unlistenable.

I’ve toyed with the idea of becoming a Premium member, but to be honest I find the playlists on Spotify more interesting anyway.

Yeah, I still use YouTube playlists sometimes, especially on TV setups, but they definitely feel a bit unfinished. And yeah, unless you’re paying, the app stopping in the background is super annoying compared to Spotify’s smoother experience.
