Zines

I know we’ve recently had a thread about magazines, but interested to know what zines you bouncin’ hun?

I mean anything that wouldn’t usually be found in a supermarket or WH Smith.

I love:

Weird Walk
Hellebore
Cunning Folk

But I’d love to learn about and read more…

My partner is on the team that produces this

It’s about / came out of their experiences being an all-woman pub quiz team.

There’s a new issue along soon, they’ll be at Edinburgh Zine Fair next month, and they’re also doing a Zoom quiz next week with the EZF folk

I love Weird Walk too!

(That’s all I got sorry)

Loads of graffiti ones. Zines seem to be an enduring format in that scene. Usually find them direct through artists Instagrams, but they pop up all over the place. An active scene of collectors, and a cheap way to own something by an artist you like. Some end up being worth a few quid too.

this looks epic! also zine fair?1?1 checks trains

I find myself very torn between posh art zines (pretty, pretentious, expensive) and the proper DIY punk ones (fun, unique, but sooooooo many) because I’m a completionist at heart. I’ll get the links of some people I know who make a lot of zines later!

Would you ever make a zine, tilts?

i am very tempted to, yes! in fact i think i may have done, in the deep darkest past.

can’t remember what the hell it was about, and it would be around the time where they were sorta superseded by blogs and that. (before it then became retrospectively cool to do paper zines)
