3 favourite second Albums of 2018

Like the Debut Albums thread but for bands releasing their second album. Mine would be

Black Foxxes
Kathryn Joseph

Let’s eat grandma

Camp Cope.

Maybe my top album of the year.

IDLES - Joy As an Act of Resistance - I never got into Brutalism (I’ll have to revisit it now), but the second I heard Colossus I was in.

Ovlov - TRU - For fans of fuzzy, catchy rock.

Yowler - Black Dog in My Path - For fans of sad music.

Forgot about Gwenno. Great album and her Hoxton Hall gig was brilliant.

Penelope Trappes
Caroline Says

Dilly Dally - Heaven
Incredible grunge/shoegaze, pretty crushing yet strangely uplifting too

Wild Pink - Yolk in the Fur
Sublime, emo Americana, heavy Springsteen touches. One for those who enjoyed War on drugs earlier material

Hovvdy - Cranberry
Blissed out lo fi indie, released on double double whammy

(Had a few more too, Lucy Dacus springs to mind as another stunner)

Marlon Williams - sexy sad countrified swoon songs
The Voidz - Casablancas doing what he should be doing, being a genius
Slug - herky jerky fun

Natalie Prass - The Future and the Past
Daniel Avery - Song for Alpha
Idles - Joy

Extremely honorable mentions to Arvo Party, Courtney Barnett & Gwenno

I really liked the Marlon Williams record too

Listening to Dilly Dally now. What an album!

They’re touring next year. Bagged a ticket for £11
