Good album to make chicken stock to. I’ve warmed to it more in the last 35 minutes.
Seeing that the final track is 20 minutes long though… hmmmmm

I should have voted in that poll… subjected everyone to like 20 clancy brothers records, or maybe 20 Bob Pollard solo outings that everyone would hate
Impressed that there’s been this many YLT posts and everyone has had the restraint not to repost that Onion story again.
11 - Ahpex Twin - I Care Because You Do
It might be to early in the morning for this record. Going to have a break tomorrow, son’s birthday party and there are family around all day someone have time to listen.
Polling day
What’s the problem here? The perfect time to break in some new Aphex Twins fans ![]()
Aphex Twin ICBYD
AT is one of those artists I like but don’t often listen to for some reason. I should remedy that as I thoroughly enjoyed giving ICBYD a spin. Just great from start to finish and doesn’t outstay it’s welcome at all.
I’ve always thought of ICBYD as the lesser album in Twin’s discography, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t great. I’m just far more likely to reach for SAW, RJD or Druqks when I’m in the mood. Will give this some proper attention when I get the chance later on though.
This^ never really listened to ICBYD but I will give it a spin
I’d give it a spin to see if I’m right that I agree with what’s been said this far, but I think I’ll be asked to not listen to it fairly quickly. I’m certainly not bothering with Ventolin - Video Edit.
Actually, no, I have stuck it on, let’s see how this goes.
Oh yeah, I remember this now. The calmer tracks are gorgeous, but I’ve got to be in a very specific mood for the harsher tracks. Radiohead based a lot of songs on tracks like The Waxen Pith and Mookid, eh?
Ok so I care because you do - much like a poster above said, I like Aphex Twin but I rarely stick it on. It would be more an artist where the odd track will pop up in a playlist that I’ve made. So I’ve never listened to ICBYD through in one hit.
Anyway, I tested the first half of the record on a rainy suburban electric car drive - this felt like a fitting soundtrack and one I would repeat.
I tested the second half on having a relaxing bubblebath, and that was a much more incongruous experience. Would not repeat.
7.4 for driving // 3.2 for bathing
Wilco slightly higher rated than Miles Davis, welcome to DrownedinSound.com
ICBYD a good album. Losing Ventolin - Video Edit would make it a great album.
Really don’t get the nonplussed response to Kind of Blue.
THIS PLACE!
No idea how to assign numbers to albums. There are plenty of albums that are perfect but are basically nothing in comparison to other perfect albums.
Yeah, it wouldn’t be DiS without polls though. And with Pitchfork down the tube who is going to put arbitrarily precise numbers on things for us? You?
Love me some Aphex Twin but I’m also in the camp that didn’t pay ICBYD as much attention as SAW I&II, RDJ Album, and Drukqs. Started paying more attention to it in recent years and it’s definitely great, so I’m not sure what it was. Probably things like Ventolin tbh. I did have a few CD singles with remixes that included Ventolin, so maybe I had just heard that enough.
Top 3: Acrid Avid Jam Shred, Icct Hedral (Edit), Alberto Balsalm
8/10
Had a brief dip in the of this earlier and really lived the first track. Kind of drifted past me, the rest but I’m going to investigate a bit more.
