Adolescence (Netflix)

Anyone else given this a try yet?
I’m on ep 2 of 4, astonishingly powerful, terrifying stuff.

Prolonged one-shot drama by the guy who made Boiling Point which had a similar style, but this is turned up to 11 and practically gives you motion sickness.

About the ongoing crisis of masculinity with young lads, the poisoning influence of Andrew Tate et al

This is the Stephen Graham thing right?

Haven’t seen it yet but sounds incredible so will be.

2 episodes down and yes it’s incredible. Also as someone that has two kids primary school age it’s one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen. Terrified of the jump to secondary school

Did the whole thing in one sitting. Said it in the other thread but i think episode three is where it reaches its pinnacle. Completely astonishing bit of TV that should be being talked about for years.

I know someone in this (not seen yet but will)

I watched the first one last night. I have a 13 year old son and it affected me in ways a TV show hasn’t for years. I’m a bit scared to go back in

I have a nephew who has just started secondary school this year so should I or should I not recommend this to my sister?

Depends how strong her stomach is! I would certainly be pre-warning.

Think I’ll consider after watching

I’m guessing I won’t end up mentioning it to her tbh.

Just came here to see if was on the entertainment thread…
Glad it’s got its own thread

Watched the first two tonight. No one does “I’m full of bottled up emotion and I’m about to explode” better than Stephen Graham. Found myself getting quite emotional thinking about my kids and putting myself in any of the parents shoes.

Watched it in one go, a type of grief I’ve never thought about. Everyone was so good in this. When done right, i don’t think I’ve seen any dramas better than British ones (and I’ve watched dramas from loads of countries)
