Hi Everyone!
I know nobody likes to think about COVID, but the reality is that it’s still here, it’s not going to go away, it’s more transmissible than ever, and it’s inextricable from music since concerts spread it - to musicians, to concert goers, and to people living and working in their communities.
So I’m posting to let Drowned in Sound know about https://afterparty19.info/, an activist-led contact tracing tool for events. There’s a ton of great information on the website, but in brief, this tool will let you
- anonymously report a COVID infection after attending an event
- set up anonymous contact tracing for an event you personally are throwing
There’s a tremendous amount of social pressure to not mention COVID and/or treat it as a thing of the past, and as a result a lot of people don’t feel comfortable speaking out about being infected or being worried about attending an event. This tool solves that - there’s no downside or catch! You can just anonymously warn others and help reduce the spread of illness, disability, and death in your communities.
(And as always, if you do choose to go to a concert, please consider wearing an N95. They will keep you and others safe, and wearing one is very much in line with the progressive, inclusive values that define this community and make it one of the very best on the internet.)
