Albums where the first song (or another song) is produced differently to the rest of the album

#1

National - Terrible Love (weird guitar effect)
Tindersticks - Second Chance Man (similar effect on vocals)
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Some Loud Thunder (everything maxed out)

all these work

#2

Holy Fuck - Super Inuit (live recording)

good decision cos the studio version stuck on the end as a bonus track really isn’t as good

#3

Came here to post Terrible Love…

#4

Sunday Morning from The Velvet Underground and Nico sounds almost orchestral compared to the rest.

#5

Father John Misty - True Affection

#6

Not really different production? Just programmed drums but it sounds the same elsewise

#7

Breeders - Divine Hammer

#8

Not first song but Unfinished sympathy Massive Attack Blue Lines

#9

Pledge from the last Fall album has that really dreadful mixing style the worst of their recent stuff has had, even though the rest of the album is mixed quite nicely. there are a few ‘alternate’ (shit) mixes only on the vinyl version of the album as well but Pledge seems to be the one exception where the good mix made it to the vinyl and the shit mix ended up on the CD/digital/all other formats version.

#10

I know it’s two tracks but Good Vibrations and Heroes & Villians on Smiley Smile by the Beach Boys

#11

Always thought the production on Life’s A Bitch from Illmatic had a completely different feel to the rest of the album.
