Both are absolute bangers. Think II is a lot darker and weird, the drums aren’t as MASSIVE but it can still cave your chest in. Might put them on now actually. \m/ Fuckin’ great live band.

not even shit. A Weekend in the City has some real highlights but what’s amazing, ten years on, is how of its time it is - . It could only have been written by someone knocking about the east london indie scene in the mid-00s, and some of the lyrics are just cringeworthy. whereas Silent Alarm, which really ought to sound even more dated, somehow doesn’t.

I like Silent Alarm, but still consider A Weekend in the City to be Bloc Party’s best record. The shear fact it has their best and most progressive song in 'Uniform" alone supports that.
Pretty sure Bleach is considered Nirvana’s debut album, not that it matters much to me because I consider them a terrible band who never made any good music anyway.
would have to disagree with battles and st vincent; i’d say strange mercy and s/t are easily as good if not better. and with battles, they changed so much when tyondai left, its basically impossible to compare mirrored with anything that came after it

This was my obvious pick up…Funeral - a near 10/10…Neon-Bible an 8/10…Suburbs 7/10…Reflektor 6/10…not holding out hope for the next one

I agree with Definitely Maybe. If they had stopped there, it would have been an amazing statement. Now I just think of Oasis as sludgy meat and potatoes rock. At the time, it seemed genuinely exciting and something special. Even though it was reappropriating other bands etc, it carried it off with such verve.
Stone Roses too. Though I didn’t hate the second LP, the first was amazing.
As for Nirvana, for what it’s worth, I never heard Bleach referred to as anything other than an LP, even though it’s short and has some singles on it. One of my regrets was not picking up a limited white vinyl copy that made it over here just as they were releasing Smells Like…
