its one of the great soundtrack albums!

Soundtrack albums aren’t as good as proper albums though

I’m gonna give it a good score soon.

Used to hate knockin on heavens door when was younger thought it was dull as dishwater and seemed to last forever. Surprised it’s only 2 and half minutes.

Quite like it now though.

The 2 last Billy’s are pretty pointless, would be better without them

Only exception is The Virgin Suicides by Air.

I’d never really paid attention to ā€˜Billy’ until I saw Oisin Leech covering it last year (he also covered Song to Woody and Mama, You Been on My Mind). Good song. Not sure that I need 4 different versions of it though.

I don’t suppose anyone has been making a nice playlist of all the best non-album cuts so far have they?

Oh fair, didn’t know if it had just added to boost sales or something. Enjoyable record, keeps in flow with the hangout vibes of the previous couple of records but definitely feels like a soundtrack. Hadn’t heard anything from it bar Knockin’ before and didn’t mind it at all.

No but it’s sort of on my to do list

There’s one upthread

I’ve been meaning to add a few more for a while but into the 70s my outtake knowledge dries up a bit

Started reading Chronicles again

Difficult to muster much to say but it’s just a nice listen isn’t it. Enjoyed having it on in the background while working from home.

Meant to watch the film but didn’t find the time. Got a bit of a backlog of Dylan films I’m still planning on getting to, unfortunately not as in sync with the albums as I’d hoped

i get why soundtrack albums dont grab most, but i’d always take a good one of those over a bad/average normal album. Anyway I just love the sounds and the warmth of Pat Garrett, another perfect compliment to JWH and New Morning that I could put on during any sunny day and instantly feel happier

(watch the film)

time for (just) Dylan

compiled from outtakes recorded for the two earlier albums, Self Portrait (June 1970) and New Morning (Oct 1970). Columbia Records compiled it with no input from Dylan, who had changed record companies to Asylum Records. The album consists of six cover songs and three traditional songs, with no original Dylan songs.

ah

We’ve reached the contractual obligation album assembled by the label out of outtakes with no input from Bob. Never heard this before and not particularly looking forward to it.
