Bandcamp No-Fee Day

Bandcamp creaking, getting an error message. Guess that means lots of people are buying things, which is good.

Before it crashed I managed the PITP back catalogue (as recommended by @McGarnagle in the ambient thread), some Gold Flake Paint magazines (because I’d been meaning to for a while) and bought a package of Shopping albums (their US tour got pulled on the day it was meant to start). Will hopefully be back this evening to get a bit more.

Bandcamp seems to be experiencing a bit of a slowdown rn. Very heartening if this is all down to artist-supporting traffic today. Really hoping Spotify (who haven’t even bothered to pay lip service) gets proper showed up by all this.

I can’t even load the site at the moment. Will try later. This is the most positive I’ve felt in the past couple of weeks. Hope it really makes a difference!

Also, @McGarnagle mastered this track and it is glorious.

Added 5 records to my cart this afternoon and havent been able to buy them all day. It’s like they dont want us to buy them. #conspiracy

I bought stuff from three bands earlier today. Would rather have done it in person at their gigs but this is a very distant second place way in supporting them nonetheless.

Probably sounds a negative post.

Wasn’t meant to be. Always want to support small bands, venues and their associates through this crisis.

It took a little while, but I’ve bought albums from these folk tonight:

(although as bandcamp is playing up, they might not load up properly at the moment!)
Two of them were recommended by @GoldFlakePaint, so thanks!

I fully see where you’re coming from as buying at gigs means you’re supporting twofold. However a lot of really small artists can’t afford to tour or gig, and bandcamp is the best way to engage with the world. Depends on the genre too!

Was gonna buy the LPs of Lucy Dacus and Anna Burch as I was due to see them both soon before all this kicked off, but their UK labels arent even stocking their LPs on bandcamp. Frustrating

Ended up overspending but fuck it… guess Doom Eternal will have to wait.

Bought these so far (a couple are singles rather than albums but every little helps)

Might get a couple more before bed, I’m basically going through a lot of the stuff I’ve been meaning to get for a while
