Thanks for this ![]()
Please elaborate.
Am surprised heās playing Apollo, but heās been away for a while. Fucking delighted heās playing Albert Hall though, love that venue
I do too although all my favourite gigs of his have been in the smaller venues. Feel like itāll never get better than the Deaf Institute gig in 2009 for me.
I am pleased about this but not sure about the Apollo. Probably not the most suitable venue. Bit of a shame really
Vicar Street might be a little bit ambitious too but theyāll probably just keep the balcony curtained off like at The Jicks last year. Itās sort of a nice novelty being there when itās not mad busy
Might do an all seater like for Cat Power a couple of years back.
Deaf Institute must have been amazing! The first time I saw him was a few years ago when he did a load of shows at Hoxton Hall whichāll take some beating:

But if heās going to be playing bigger venues Iām pleased itās Hoxton Hall.
Iāve seen him quite a few times now, so I might skip the Apollo show. I mean, Iāve seen him at the Royal Festival Hall and headlining EOTR, as well as Hoxton Hall, Conway Hall, Dingwalls and ATP. So a mixture of big and small, the smaller ones have always been more suited to him, but that EOTR show was pretty bloody great too.
Couple of my mates sacked off the Sunday and I was very close to joining them. The rain finally stopping for most of his set was such a pleasing moment. And Riding For The Feeling at the end was magical
didnāt know he was on twitter

heh
First disc of the album is up on Spotify apparently:
Only 2 tracks through, but I am so so excited.
Iām seeing six! Including Ballad of the Hulk ![]()
looking forward to having a listen. intrigued by the short songs after the lengthy ones on recent albums
was waiting for one song to come out so 6 is quite nice isnāt it
early Smog vibes from the lo-fi first half of the opening track. lovely
Side 2 has now dropped! Not listened yet, (nor fully digested side 1) but this a pleasing development:
Ex Con is an excellent song.
Thatās all I have to say.
Havenāt listened to any of his Callahan-era stuff, whatās the best one to start with?
- Woke on a Whaleheart
- Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle
- Apocalypse
- Dream River
