Buckethead (alive)

“I was eating it (KFC), and I put the Halloween mask on and then the bucket on my head. I went to the mirror. I just said, Buckethead. That’s Buckethead right there. It was just one of those things. After that, I wanted to be that thing all the time”.

Buckethead (1996).

He’s released over 681 albums!

Haven’t listened but absolutely guarantee that they’re all complete shit, especially the ones with Viggo Mortensen.

Do you reckon he’s ever accidentally recorded the same album twice

It’s pronounced Bouquet-head.

A pretty intriguing figure beyond the seeming gimmick of it all. Just following his own star with no real interest in being famous etc. Don’t really like his style but he’s a fairly genuine outsider artist I think.

Makes King Gizzard look like a bunch of fucking slackers doesn’t it.

Always liked hearing Buckethead pop up especially when playing with Les Claypool, Brain (from Primus), and Bernie Worrell in Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains. Giant Robot is a good album Bill Laswell produced. Iggy Pop on some vocals, Bootsy Collins on bass on some tracks. Think even Sly Dunbar is on a track I believe.

Don’t think he’s ever really eclipsed the best stuff he’s done from the get-go in the early 90’s with Praxis. More of an experimental rock Ozric Tentacles, can get thrash metal at times. Transmutations is good stuff (Buckethead, Laswell, Bootsy Collins, Brain, and Bernie Worrell).

Hope he’s doing well, bring him back out Les!

Also, in true Buckethead mystery and lore, many believe he’s guitarist behind this speed metal gem.

Their Sacrifist album, with Eye from Boredoms and John Zorn, is brutal!
