You can’t really farm here for Souls as death is so likely. Great for Humanity drops though. Damn them fake Bergenwerth dickheads.
First boss down. What a lovely treat for us fans of the Painted World
Hi folks, I am hoping someone can save me from my misery. I’m about 45 hours into DS1 and am totally stuck. I’m in Anor Londo and I think I need to run up and along a very narrow ledge while 2 powerful knights are firing extremely large arrows at me from two different directions. I’ve died about 50 times. Once I managed to dispatch one of the knights by running away from him like a coward, and he fell off. Then I fell off too. Sometimes I die on the way back there at the hands of the massive guards or the annoying lightning creatures, although that is down to carelessness. Can I bypass or cheese this section somehow?
I am level 55 with dexterity 38 and low on most other stats, so I possibly need to go away and grind a bit so that on the rare chance I actually get to fight one of the knights he doesn’t just batter me in seconds? I do have a pyromancy flame +14 but not much use here.
If it’s any consolation, this is famously an extremely difficult part that most people get stuck at for a while.
I don’t have a cheese tactic (sure they exist) but if you ignore the one on the left and go for the one on the right, you might be able to take him on (or roll past or even trick him into falling off) and get to where you need to go
I don’t think you can cheese it alas or avoid it. It’s notoriously where a lot of people get stuck!
I eventually got sick of dying and just managed my use of sprinting and stamina, eventually just doing run after run to avoid and get past the enemies in your path. Lots of them are slow and you can snake through them.
Once you get in that window, I recall there is a save point close to hand?
I think for ages I was taking out every enemy methodically or walking across that part with my shield up and falling off. When I started just running and rolling, I did it pretty quickly?
Yes I think there’s a bonfire in the room on the left when you drop down. First time I made it I went right and died. Took me ages to do it again.
If I may refer the honourable gentleman to my previous contribution on this topic
from later in that thread, this is what I did in the end
Ended up sprinting past everyone on the approach, rolled up the buttress, approached the archer on the right with my Dragon Crest Shield up to eat the damage and engaged him in a short swordfight. With my uchigatana +10 there could be only one* winner
Never done it myself, but I think you can also cheese them with poison arrows
Is it possible to miss the DLC in DS3 like I managed to in DS1? If so, at what point do I need to stop the main game?
Wow thanks for all the quick responses! Yeah, so it sounds like just basically running past them is the sort of thing I was hoping for. I think you are saying that I can just ignore the guy on the left completely, as it is towards the right that I need to go to get to this bonfire? Going to see what I can do.
I only have a bandit knife + 10, which I dearly love, but is not ideal here really. I can normally parry semi-competently, but just totally lose all composure in this situation.
as long as you’ve got a shield that can mitigate the arrow impact you can stand back from the knight once you’re up top and use your pyro on him - I did this with soul arrows in my last play through as a magic set.
OK I will try that - when I tried to back off him a bit I got hit in the back from the other one! I have got the shadow garb on too, so although my shield mitigates some damage, I get buffetted around a lot by the impact of the arrows.
First try at sprinting, with the intention of just running past the guy on the right, and I somehow got hit by no arrows and ended up right in his face. He carried on firing at me and somehow missing, so I put my shield up and smashed 2 chaos fireballs into him from point blank. Job done - thanks DiS ![]()
I’ve just killed Dragonslayer.
I think you’ve stumbled into part of the DLC already and left it. I think it’s a lot more straight forward to get into the DLC in DS3 than it is in the other From games. Someone here will know. It’s also fairly obvious who is the last main game Boss.
DS3 is great consistently but the DLC is better.
In DS3 you don’t go automatically into NG+ so you can actually beat the final boss and still access the DLC so don’t worry too much about getting too far into the main game, in fact one of the DLC areas in DS3 is probably best tackled after you beat the main game both from a character level and narrative perspective.
It is easier to access the DLC in 3 than in the first one. One of them you will get from talking to an obvious NPC at the cleansing chapel in the Cathedral of the deep,
The second DLC area is accessed from a bonfire either in the first DLC area or from a bonfire on the approach to the final boss in the main game.
Great, thanks! Yes that was my worry… beating the main game final boss and it ending straight away. I feel like it’s building to a climax now.
You’re golden, only problem might be you find the first DLC a bit easier as it’s designed for SL60ish and you’ll be about SL100 after the main boss.
top 3 hardest moments on a first playthrough I reckon.
Is there a short cut to Manus without getting all my Estus refills pop pop popped off me on the way there?
Where is Scooby Summon Doo?
