darts (rolling thread)

I like Aspinall too, but can’t see he’s got any chance of the prem.

You don’t really need to have watched much of the prem in recent years to have an opinion.

What’s more important?

current world ranking? if so, Luke Humphries in 5th should be in, then maybe Cross/Clayton below him

winning tv titles last year? if so, Ross Smith and Noppert should be in

performance in the last prem? if so, Clayton and Cullen should be in

winner of the masters? with Cross ranked 6th in the world, surely he’d deserve it, even though he’s been in the news saying he doesn’t want it!

it’s an interesting one, you can make an argument for lots of players

I think it always depends who the players are though. I’d always just want the players most capable of beating the others on a given night, rather than just steadily decent, and you can end up with those coming from any category. Tournament winners I suppose are the ideal, as long as they’ve properly won it, and not just had everyone fall around them.

Essentially: Someone who sometimes averages 90, sometimes 105 > someone who always averages 98, for me. Especially in the premier league, which often falls into feeling like the same thing repeated.

going to Flight Club next week, went a couple of times ages ago

anyone been recently?

never been before, always comes up when people at work suggest going somewhere but Bounce usually wins and/or Flight Club is booked up. need to put that right!

Cullen not included despite having match darts in the playoff final. De Sousa also reached the final in 2021 and then wasn’t included in 2022.

Humphries was 3rd on the 1 year list for 2022 so will justifiably feel hard done by. Similarly, Noppert was 5th on that list and won a major.

I went a couple of weeks ago with a big group from work. They let us start about an hour early and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The only complaint was their darts are pretty light.

DvdB has clearly been included to chase the TV audiences in Europe.

this is useful info

I have some that are light that I hate so will use them for the next week

in good news

I smashed it at Flight Club (won every game, tho at least a couple were due to whoever I was partnered with)

in bad news

are they proper boards at flight club and can you take your own darts?

anyone know of a pub in the city thats got a dartboard so i dont have to hang around a bunch of pissed up corporate twats pretending to like darts.

they’re proper boards but I saw a review somewhere saying that if you want to use your own darts they’ll tell you that their electronic system only works with their darts. apparently if you complain enough they’ll let you use your own darts but without the electronic scoring and games. your area is always well separated so the other people in the bar aren’t an issue, but if you actually play darts, Flight Club is a waste of time and money. fun enough in a work group like I did though.

Josh Rock is getting absolutely trousered on ITV4

Very impressive from Woodhouse

A 16 yo, fantastic scenes

Shame to see Burnett go out, I was enjoying him.

Think I’d like to see Gerwen take it, not sure why really

Or Gawlas, don’t know much about him

MvG could win everything this year, so would rather see him lose

not a Dimitri fan but he is very good so hoping he beats MvG

whoever makes the final from Gawlas and Gilding to win the title please

Gawlas is very young, he can still play in the world youth championship several times (having reached the final in 2019)

It’s not looking hopeful

only hope is that Gilding’s more methodical (aka slow) game frustrates him
