I don’t think I like this new album that much
I’m on my second listen and I’m hoping it’ll grow on me
Really into this. Love how woozy and low tempo it is. Sounds almost like a Madlib record in places.
Reading this said about the album is making me look forward to it more and more. I loved the quality of I Don’t Like Shit…'s production (and obviously wooziness and haziness is catnip to me)
It has the feel of a beat-tape that he’s decided to rap over. Which is a good thing IMO.
Yeah I quite like Earl but this is the quickest that I’ve been hooked by one of his projects
Really digging this and have already given it more than half a dozen spins! Plenty to unpack from all these brief but oh so dense and hooky earworms.
Is this not out on CD? Not been able to find it.
Amazon has CD release on 14th December
Goddamn internet / being old-fashioned
Got Flower Boy instead ay I
Did a double take when he opens up the album with that “mask off, mask on, we trick-or-treatin’” line. Does sound pretty Madlib and his dexterous monotone over those beats makes it reminiscint of Madvillain for me (though the mood and themes are obviously v different)
Really like it too – guess anything in that vein is gonna land with me.Think this is the first era when I can remember wishing rappers were making they albums longer though.
There’s so much going on it that it doesn’t really feel like a 24 minute album.
Given it several more listens and I’m still finding it a bit too dense tbh.
Re: SFFB – as much as I was anticipating the lo-fi Earl album, the production on Tyler’s struck me in the fact that it is lush as af
It’s a gorgeous album - really ornamental in some ways. Gotta dust it off and give it a spin again methinks!
Absolutely love Flower Boy. Lush is definitely the correct word!
Flowe Boy live was one of the most joyous things I’ve ever seen. So so glad he proved to the world that he had that in him.
Yeah! I saw it at Primavera and loved it. Hopefully Theresa May will let him back in the uk soon so he can tour it here
I missed him at Primivera for Ty Segall which I kinda regret now especially after seeing his tiny desk concert.
