Edinburgh Festivals 2025

A month of high culture and low bank balances ahead - let’s go!

Who’s going and what ya seeing

One thing booked so far — Daniel Kitson.

His show Collaborator last year was fantastic so I’m looking forward to whatever weird thing he has for us this time.

Going for a couple of days with my partner and her mum. Nothing booked yet so will keep an eye on this thread for suggestions/recommendations.

for absurdist theatre I want to see some/all of the 3 shows by Xhloe and Natasha. They won Fringe awards for all of them from 2022-24 and now they’re putting all 3 on across the month

flatmate raved about the ones she’s seen, some of her fav Fringe shows ever

We’re paying £486 for a double room for two nights in a mediocre looking hotel and I’m missing a festival in Bristol I want to go to :sob:

Outside of real solutions which I can’t see anyone developing, feels like staying in Glasgow or Newcastle and day tripping over will get increasingly common

I’m going for a week - I think 11th - 16th

we stay out camping at Mortonhall on the south side of the town which makes it a bit cheaper - and also some nice walking in the pentland hills on the doorstep too
wil be watching this thread for recommendations to book for certain

The only weekend I could do this year was the same weekend Oasis are playing so that put that plan to bed.

I wonder if many people stay in Stirling, feels like it might be a reasonable option price-wise and distance-wise (with the downside of being in Stirling, and I say this as someone who spent his first 18 years there), although I guess there’s maybe not that much accommodation

It’s got a nice Oxfam books.

I’ve never been to the Fringe, I ended up going to a film screening whilst the Fringe was on last year.

I should change that but comedy is truly the unexplored map for me so I would have no idea what’s good.

I could probably do a day or two this year :astonished: thanks for the reminder @JaguarPirate

What day you going? Very limited in days I can go this year

Stirling is pretty popular with tourists and yeah probably doesn’t have that much accommodation, probably is still cheaper than Edinburgh but don’t think will be that cheap.

I heard Simon Nunnery saying he camps somewhere every year

Only got Tim Key booked so far. Would be well up for Daniel Kitson, but cant make it for 10 am the day we are through… will look at other suggestions as feel like we need one or two more in the diary.
