Almost like if you take Pumpkins classic Speed Kills and cross it with S/T-era Alice in Chains. Thick, heavy, hazy doom from an album that blew away my expectations.
Neighbours Burning Neighbours - Cotton Brain
A song that should go on forever, and does every time I get it in my head. Love how bendy / rubbery / fiery it gets, and how when they could have wound things down, they come roaring back to life instead for some rolling apocalyptic doom. I could go on and on but I’ll save it for the album writeup, just listen.
Cold Gawd - Gorgeous
An instant best-of-genre contender for heavy shoegaze. There’s this one moment that’s just such a wounded, visceral expressions of grief, and then right after the lead guitar keeps escalating things by finding the saddest notes available. You can practically feel the life and light and hope being sucked out of the world.

hmmm… I build playlists from the weekly new release threads and if I find anything novel I post it there. Maybe a few extra releases from ML finds. Places you tend to visit!
I’m intrigued too. Maybe some releases I added to release threads retrospectively? Cate Brooks, gyrofield’s summer EP? Luke Sanger? That was from a Balmat trawl.
Long Island Sound, Lakker, From Indian Lakes, Bored at my Grandmas House, Still Corners, Night Tapes and Chapell Roan (I do know this one obviously, just isn’t on any of my playlists yet as I only tend to add albums or EPs). Will be listening to these tonight and probably retrospectively filling the gaps in my playlists!
