I have mined the depths of the Steam sale so thoroughly that I’m now rebuying games I own on other platforms (Atomicrops and Star Renegades).

- Lego Fortnite with Dr Mrs Epimer
- just finished rinsing Dome Keeper. £0.79, 50 hours played.
Looking forward to:
- Path of Exile 2 early access improvements
- Slay the Spire 2
- possibly nothing else, my life will be entirely consumed by those two things
- Switch 2 at some point?
- Monster Hunter Wilds if there’s a lull in Path of Exile 2 updates

Making my way through Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (fine so far) but got Burnout Paradise when it was 80% off so that will probably take up most of my time now

Played a fair amount in 2024, but didn’t finish much. Currently playing Tomb Raider 1 in the remastered trilogy and Dragon’s Dogma 2. Bought Lorelei & the Laser Eyes and Paper Trail recently, so will get to those soon too.
Looking forward to Switch 2.
Finding with most games at the moment that they just can’t grab me as much as Tears of the Kingdom or Elden Ring.

I got some of the 2024 indies I hadnt got around to in the steam sale. I refunded a couple but kept these which are all great so far. They’re not obscure unknown games (they’re getting on a lot of end of year lists) but will mention them in case somebody is looking for something to pick up.
Shogun Showdown is a turn based rogue like. Kind of like Into the Breach but a bit more forgiving, although i havent finished a run yet. Very satisfying and addictive.
Minishoot Adventures is a bullethell twin stick shooter where you progess through a Zelda-like structure of overworld and dungeons, upgrading your ship and weapons.
Ballionaire has only just come out so dont think its on sale. It’s like Balatro in that you build synergies in each run to try and get ridiculous high scores.
Tactical Breach Wizards is probably the most well known of these games. A lot like Into the Breach again, a tactics game where you have to think alot about the placement of your characters and your enemies (mostly to be able to push them out of windows).

I’m only keeping my PSN subscription until March so need to finish Thief (soon) and The Dishonoured Outsider one before then. I doubt I’ll get to Disco Elysium but I’ll probably just buy that.
I plan on playing Dark Souls after that, possibly with a interlude of a Tomb Raider or something.

The rise of the Golden Idol (I am enjoying the game but the controls are terrible on the Switch).
I’m playing What The Golf. It’s one joke but a pretty good one. Also in the middle of co-opping Overcooked 2 and It Takes Two in the run up to our eventual falling out.
I have a massive backlog again but it’s ok. I have Hi-Fi Rush and Yakuza 0 downloaded on the Playstation to try out and I’ve got Mass Effect 2 and 3 to get through as well. At some point I’ll treat myself to Baldur’s Gate III and Astro Bot but dunno when.
Dunno if I’m particularly arsed about the Switch 2 yet. There’s still plenty I haven’t got through on the first one and I can’t really think of anything in a launch lineup that would make me splurge instantly. Still, it’ll be fun when it’s out.
If it’s this year I’ll probably moan about how annoying GTA VI will be for months before it’s out and then buy it day one anyway.

Putting a few hours a week into Zelda and Factorio. Only started Alien Isolation the other day… Currently finding the Average Joe robots a bigger threat than the Alien.
Currently playing far cry 5 (solo) and sackboy (coop)
Not sure what to tackle after Indy. Got a few Switch games half beaten (Echoes of Wisdom and XC3) so could polish them off.
Could also play Mario Wonder or Kirby’s Forgotten Land which I bought for the kids and am yet to tackle. Got XC:DE for Christmas so there’s that too, or at least the extra content.
Also have 2 months left of Gamepass so could exploit that. And I have Miles Morales / RE2 both a few hours started on PS5 Portals streaming service.
I could also do my traditional January slogathon of a FROM game. Got DS2, 3 and Sekiro eyeing me (I bounced off Demon Souls and don’t think I’ll go back)
As for 2025… Bring on Switch 2 and Metroid Prime 4

- Balatro - nine challenges left to go and then that’s 100% completed. will I keep playing it after that just to see big number go brrr? possibly
- iRacing - mad expensive when you think about it (I try not to) but actually very good and very fun. I am not actually very good at it, but still.
- Football Manager 2024 - doing an online game in Serie A, got Cremonese into the Europa League for the 27/28 season. Lasse Nordas is the hero of the save so far imo, Norwegian random who got the Serie A and European Golden Boot last season for me
- Hitman - the elusive target with Jean Claude Van Damme is good fun, and I’ve been trying to get some trophies just for the sake of it. still fun to do silly mission stories and be the least stealth and least competent assassin ever imo
sort of playing:
- Celeste - I like it but I’m 4 levels in I think and I just find it unnecessarily hard sometimes. would like to finish it though, so might persevere
- Alan Wake Remastered - gave it a go cos I liked Control, like the vibe and interested by the story but find the game itself a bit rubbish and/or dated? will see how it goes but can see me just not bothering and seeing what happened on youtube/Wikipedia or something instead

- dunno tbh. feel well out of the loop with what games are coming out nowadays. the new Assetto Corsa is out this month iirc, at least in early access anyway, and I’ll probably get the Indiana Jones game when it’s out on PS5 but beyond that

Been largely playing Blood Bowl 3 online, beating fools who don’t know what they’re doing.
Just bought a PS5 like a hungover dickhead, any tips on essential games to go for?
Not big on survival horror but enjoy things like hitman and Horizon where i can wander around getting up to wierd shit.
The best exclusives are probably Astrobot and Spiderman 2.
Horizon Forbidden West is supposedly jaw droppingly nice. I think on the Extra tier of PS+ you can get that, Death Stranding, Metal Gear V, Ghosts of Tsushima, Miles Morales, maybe God of War etc all of which might scratch that itch.
Did you have a PS4? Or are you catching up with that gen too?
