Glastonbury 2025 - Armchair viewing/listening thread 📺 ⛺ 📻 🏠

Aw yes! I’m so excited. It’s the best weekend of television of the year. This year I’ve decided to get to the campsite early to grab a good spot. I’ll level with you, it’s already filling up, so you’d better hurry on down to the armchair pronto to guarantee a view. I hope they’ve sorted out the sleep timer on the TV. We don’t want a repeat of last year when I got back from quing at the toilets to find everything had switched to standby. As ever, share all the fun you’re having on your armchairs, right here, in the chat :tv: :tent: :radio: :house:

No way BBC are going to show Kneecap, is there?

Yeah been thinking about the Kneecap thing a lot. Interesting to see if they do.

Is there a schedule for the iPlayer coverage yet? I tried reading the BBC’s page on coverage

but it was absolute word salad.

Although it does say the iPlayer channel starts at midday, which :crossed_fingers: suggests they’re covering the first few acts they usually miss (Cmat, Cmat, Cmat)

Sadly I don’t think so. I wondered if they might get around the hoo ha by just having it on the red button, but they’re too beholden to the reactionary right of this country to take that kind of risk

BBC sounds also currently has some old performances this week - don’t think I heard this Rosalia one before

Take that flag down, I can’t see the bloody stage.

Anyway, a poll

Will the BBC broadcast any of the Kneecap set, (any channel)?

  • Yes
  • No (Chara)

They will, but selectively.

Reckon you’ll get a wee clip on the Sat evening show just to prove it happened but none of the full set.

Sets you’re most excited to catch?

I think Loyle Carner’s Other stage headline slot on Friday could be a big moment for him

I’m just (naively) assuming that the iplayer live streams from the main stages will show all sets from whatever time the stream starts each day, with the exception of any acts that have asked not to be shown.

I doubt there’ll be much/any of their set put on the actual BBC 1/2/3/4 shows.

Understand them opting to air Charli in big 2025, but hoping Neil’s at least on the red button.

From memory…I don’t think the coverage is as comprehensive as this? There’s usually about 2/3 streams going on at once, and they flit between the main stages

Looking forward to some classic sets from Burning Spear, Alanis and En Vogue to get me in the mood on Friday.

They broadcast the stages in full on iPlayer unless someone asks not to be (Clairo did this last year or the year before maybe, as an example). As the link up there says:

BBC iPlayer’s offering up over 90 hours of performances with its live streams of the five main stages - Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Woodsies and The Park

Ah ok fair enough…maybe I’m thinking of highlights then, they can be quite selective with them

Anthony Szmierek is on BBC 2 at 10pm on Thursday

There’s a rumour that Neil might have refused permission for BBC coverage, or at least of the full set.

First weekend in what feels like months that I’m not busy so looking forward to some good Glastonbury. Mostly want to see all the old person shit like John Fogerty and Alanis Morissette (although her clash with OSees is brutal), not particularly bothered by any of the headliners if they’re not showing any of Big Neil so will flit around the smaller stages mostly.

Applaud the dedication to the bit here!
