They are obviously corporate shills but they serve a purpose. Plus they are capable of actually writing a song.
Dad took me to see them at the old Wembley when I was 11 and wearing my cassette of crossroads out so I have fond memories

Def Lep were a massive deal for me and my mate growing up. Happy when we got back into them in the last few years that the records still hold up. Hysteria is a masterpiece.
He’s working with Miley Cyrus on her forthcoming album!
superb!
have you heard the rest of that album?? its the pinnacle of this genre imo
nope, aside from the singles. I thought liking the one song was going too far but might just embrace it
i really love early cheap trick but i dont think it quite fits in here. id say those early records are pretty squarely power pop for me. but the rest of your list is a+. i dont know much about tigertailz or little angels… hit me with some knowledge on those.
preach
Early Bon Jovi had more in common with Journey, Boston and Pat Benatar - standard US rock. Then they pivoted to hair metal and then back to rock in the 90s. Canny bloke, that Jon.
Ooooooh…she’s a little runaway
it’s time, my friend. join the fold. we’re here with open arms. the real question is… when you make love, do you look in the mirror?
Little Angels were from Scarborough (the home of rock?)
I absolutely love this song. “Maybe 18, maybe just left school, you spent your last dole money on a bedsit room”. It’s like rock’s Common People
Tigertailz are the epitome of the LA glam side of the genre:
You’ll have heard most of Hysteria, then. Seven singles from 12 tracks.
Oh man I can hear the delay on the drums even reading that
Yeah for sure. Runaway is a jam and happpily reminds me of All For Layna by Billy Joel which is no bad thing
this is the correct thread. but only for the version of bon jovi that fits the thread of course. im not a major bon jovi apologist but he clearly knew how to put together a pop jam.
lol this is hilarious wtaffff. i was squarely out on this through the first verse but the hook has completely got me. im in.
I’ll be throwing in some Heart from 1985 to 1990. I mean 1970s Heart is amazing (even better), but I can’t believe it’s the same band.
yeah this is right, and dont forget he then pivoted to country in the 00s.
Oh no does that mean that when they went pseudo-gritty-but-not-really with Keep The Faith that it cant be mentioned here? Gotta be genesis of Butt Rock surely?
Either way Richie is a a fucking wonderful guitarist and the mixing of his solos into their songs is fantastic. Not many people that can resist doing the backing vocals on Wanted Dead or Alive when it comes on, gotta be some skill there.
Edit: wtf
