No singles to poll really (someone more knowledgeable can do a songs poll if you like) so just albums today

  • Music Has The Right To Children

tomorrow’s harvest is my favourite BoC album. seems very prescient from the POV of 2020. i’m slowly collecting all their records on vinyl. i could talk about them for hours. i love em. the aesthetics and the insane conspiracy theories around them are also great.

geogaddi backwards

Definitely not my kind of music!!

they have some sick beats like thus, good entry point

come on guys hurry and talk BoC you’ve been typing for aaaaages

One of my all time favourite acts. Inspirational and unique. They know how to make music sound futuristic and nostalgic all at the same time. Beautiful one minute and sinister the next. Just stunning.

Mhtrtc is one of the albums i vividly remember where and when i bought in (weird hipster clothes shop that also sold a few cds, in hyde park, leeds, may 1998). Only open for about 3 months.

Was an absolute revelation when i heard it. Got completely lost in the woozy, kaleidoscopic soundscape. Used to put it on every night before falling asleep. Took me a little longer to get into geoggaddi cos its such a different vibe, but now love it nearly as much.

Dont reach for the others as much (though in a beautiful place out in the country is a classic of course).

Easy 5.

music for horror films that are too dreamlike and frightening to ever get made

Have genuinely never heard a note, despite lots of people I know loving them. Will be going in for an investigate today.

3/5. I like music in their general sphere but never got them. Could do with being more ambient or less ambient and find a lot of it drab. Prefer about 25 bands that you could compare to them

Thanks for the link.

I’m sorry, but I find this really boring. Same with several other tracks I’ve listened to over the years after hearing folks on here rave about the band.

Just not for me.

as least you gave it a whirl, even if you now rue the whirl

(exits thread apologetically)

The band name Boards Of Canada is a brilliant band name though!

they’re the x files of music aren’t they. people either love em or are just “meh”.

Well, at least Cher is higher than MJ

A high 4 for me, bought MHTRTC with Christmas HMV vouchers (remember them?) as the name/ artwork intrigued me and NME had been wanging on about it. Was addicted from the off and while nothing else they’ve done since has matched it for me, anything new from them is never anything less than an event.

4 from me, love them but dont know them that well.

Just noticed that Dis think the most overrated band in history: the pet shop boys, are better than the Ramones?
fekk off
