đŸŽ” How Good Are They Really đŸŽ” Modest Mouse

Dug out my Ugly Casanova CD. Loads better than I remember it being at the time. I liked it back then but I guess one of the things I wanted from Brock in 2002 was shoutiness and loud guitars which this album doesn’t have. But it’s aged really well.

this is pretty amazing. That version of 3rd Planet

Looks like they’ve added a Bexhill date the night before the London gig. Very tempting but trains to Bexhill on a Sunday are garbage!

Now that im tempted by.

Hi Modest Mouse friends, I submitted a track to this upcoming covers album being put out by Gold Mold & Heavenly Records, with all proceeds going to charity for Scottish Families affected by alcohol and drugs

Lol way to embed, no breath

Here we go!

Committed to the Glasgow gig, glad I did - been ages since I last saw them, will be by far the best venue of the 3 shows, and they just seen a bit more fired up and engaged now? Having an album the fans are reacting well to must help surely

Been giving the album loads more time since I bought the record too. Very strong first 5, good melodies and energy (the ending of We’re Lucky is my fav part of the album), slightly lull with Transmitting to Lace Your Shoes, then a solid bunch to end with - Never Fuck a Spider probably the best track overall

Main issue for me beyond the basic songs not being up to the prime is that there isn’t enough jamming. I know a few songs reach beyond that 5 min mark, but there’s some sections I really wanted to go on much longer, really build in intensity in that old school MM way - like We’re Lucky could easily be twice as long and I’d love it all! But still, very glad to have another properly enjoyable album by them

Seen modest mouse in a butlins, royal albert hall and now an art deco building. Weird collection of venues

I kind of love it

Also smoosh together the uptempo songs of strangers and the mellower songs on casket and you have a very fine album but an album completely lacking in jamming. But i understand why, jamming requires tightly knit chemostry and since the core of the band chopped and chamged so much it vanished.

There is a reason we were dead is the only post moon record to have jammy long songs. Its the only one with isaac eric and jermiah together

Eric is missed

Out of curiosity and checked out some recent setlists and some of the deep cuts theyre cracking out in some of these shows got me excited.

Too many fiestas for reuben, Shit luck and Styrofoam Boots but to name a few
Looked at some footage of this tour and they seem way way more consistent live and brock seems super invested and is having a great time.

The true strength of theirs is that you can never aay ‘theyll never play thhat song live’ or ‘theyll deffo play this song’ it is literally a lottery and every show oa different so you can see them multiple times live without much regret and if theyve finally knocked the inconsistency on the head then even better

Nice to see - excited now

Saw them play that in 2010

Legit think Building Nothing could be their third best album and beats out a whole load of 90s classics by other (lesser) bands

Picked off the Strangers things that popped up on new setlists, still got no motivation to go back to the album but the tracks were pretty decent. The Ground Walks and The Tortoise are the standouts probably. Still so keen for how varied these setlists look

Definitely gonna need to try and get along to the London show then, still never seen them!

With the heavy caveat they quite often seem to have gigs where Isaac can’t really be bothered, when they’re on it they’re ridiculously strong live.

Sadly have two spares to their Manchester show - face value, give us a shout if you’re keen
