First single i ever bought - Left to my own devices
First record i ever owned - Actually
First gig i ever went to - pet shop boys when i was about 9
First fan club i was ever a member of - pet shop boys
My first musical obsession, actually harangued my mum so much about those flip up sunglasses chris lowe use to wear that she sourced me some kinda knock off pair, i was so happy. I mean they looked fuck all like the pair he wore but they flipped up.
Actually is still easily on my top 5 records and Behaviour is stunning, being boring is just incredible.
Stopped listening a bit as i discovered new music but then went back. In a career as long as theirs there are of course a couple of duds but let’s not lose sight of the fact that they have an arsenal of absolute bangers. Have seen them live about 5 times in the last 7/8 years or so and they put on a helluva show. If you don’t leave one of their shows with a huge fucking smile on your face then you’re dead inside.
Was supposed to be seeing them in london at the end of this month.
The band that got me into music. Absolutely love them. 5
Actually was the first full album I think I completely fell in love with - aged 9 I used to walk around the house listening to it on my walkman for days on end
No idea what a Pet Shop Boys album sounds like in the 21st century, but I think even if they’ve done a Blood Sugar Sex Magik covers album it couldn’t diminish how much I love their 80s output

Always wanted to like them more then I actually did.
Listened to Very for the first time in years recently and reckon it holds up well.
The odd song aside I find everything after the first 3 albums jars but those first 3 are not perfect but pretty great.
Aside - Eighth Wonders version of I’m not Scared is definitely my guilty pleasure pop song. Patsy Kensit really can’t sing and her sub Jane Birkin breathy vocals and terrible French is hilariously awful, but the actual song is ace and it somehow just crests the wave.
