I thought both of them mostly were tbh
Back then apparently having singles that were also on the album was seen as a bit like cheating the public

Oh yeah I know, itās just that⦠Volume 2 would comfortably be my favourite Beatles album if it were just a normal album
Had not even considered that without the Beatles we might not have been graced with the ultimate lazy vegans meal - a box of Lindaās and a can of beans.
5/5.
I really like the solo on Something. Probably because I can actually play it.
Not really a fan of most of their instrument tones actually but it feels a bit churlish to judge 60s sounds by modern standards. Even if thereās a certain kind of modern day guitar player who spends £££ trying to replicate them.
Yeah I think Abbey Road sounds good which makes it maybe unique as far as Beatles albums go. The drums sound lovely on that album, getting towards that golden period of 70s production where the drums and bass were always lush and warm before the 80s fucked everything up
absolutely over the moon with this
He did a good golden slumbers too but I donāt know how to listen it.
Because
Ok. You know you can mute tags, threads, categories etc right?
Donāt think Iāve ever listened to let it be, never realised they covered black eyed peas, bet thatās amazing.
But remember it doesnāt work unless you post in the thread to tell everyone youāre muting it.
This is beautifully put Smee.
Anyone been to see the Bootleg Beatles live?
Genuinely one of the best gigs Iāve ever been to. So good. Also love how Glastonbury put them on at a smaller stage in the same slot when The Rolling Stones played the Pyramid a few years ago ![]()
I saw them in Croydon almost 10 years ago for my mumās 60th. The night was great but also one my most cringeworthy memories associated with it:
Towards the end everyone was up dancing at their seats (all seater venue) and the woman behind my sister asked her to sit down so she could see. My sister - who is a bit shall we say feisty in these situations and had a few pints down her - told the woman to get a life and try to enjoy herself once in a while. Cut to the end of the gig and the woman in question comes out into the aisle and past us towards the exit⦠in a wheelchair

Truly awful scenes
Same experience for me. My parents had zero interest in pop music but Rubber Soul was 1 of maybe 4 pop/rock albums they had.
It feels like they worked out how to exploit the vast potential value of their catalogue when the cd era kicked in but that has meant they are too expensive to use in tv and films in the way they used to be. All those 60s nostalgia programmes that used to be on in the 80s would be unaffordable with Beatles songs now.
I donāt know how successful the Yesterday film has been but it feels like a slightly desperate marketing attempt to me - like quick we need to pass The Beatles down to the next generation before they are lost as āthe greatest band everā.
I donāt know how desperate it is, but theyāre definitely aware they need to make the music more available to people than it has been in the last 10-20 years. Suspect weāll probably see more of this kind of stuff to come.
They also get bonus points for having cracking cameos on The SImpsons

GEAR
they headlined the acoustic tent at glastonbury about 2 months after my cousin died.
my cousin was only 52 when he died and was a beatles freak, my last time spent with him in fact was me teaching him the riff for we can work it out on guitar.
anyway we were all devastated obviously. so i went to glastonbury and while my pals went off to see their bands on various stages i went to see the bootleg beatles as a kinda of grief/raise a glass type thing to my cousin.
sang along at the top of my voice throughout and often with tears in my eyes and it was incredibly moving and cathartic for me. how he loved a beatles signalong. ![]()
thatās beautiful and sad Lopan, thanks for sharing x
I hung it on me wall!
Also Macca is probably my favourite person in the world
Seems a lovely bloke, and when he gets things a bit wrong, itās proper funny
Watch the Meat Free Mondays and the Hey Jamesy videos about once a week
If I ever saw him live Iād probably just cry from start to finish. Fair fucks to the bloke for being in his 70s, going out and playing songs he wrote 40/50 years ago and still giving a belting performance every time
