get a HGATR: Wings on the go
FTFY
The Beatles are fucking awesome. Got a hard days night playing.
That opening note is just like āyeah, now weāre talkingā
Iāve been giving the Let It Be box a listen. Probably their least essential album but the new mix does sound slightly brighter. The odds-and-sods are, as expected, a mixed bunch but thereās some nice moments.
The original Get Back album was what I was most interested in hearing. Turns out itās pretty obvious why it wasnāt released - Itās very reliant on the looser sessions, with more studio dialogue and ad libs. If Iād heard a bootleg of it in 1969, Iād assume it was just a compilation of outtakes. Still, nice to have it.
I still rate Let It Be Naked as the better version. Will have to listen to these new ones.
got this on now, really like the medley with the faster version of Donāt Let Me Down, but yeah, sounds like it belongs on a deluxe reissue of Let It Be rather than as a standalone album
God I love I Me Mine
yeah absolute banger that
Itās a frustrating album. Almost great, but a few missteps bum it out a bit.
Probably a ploy to get suckers like me to fork out for the super deluxe box*, but the standard LP version of this is shockingly bare bones. Single LP in one of those standard wafer thin sleeves that are sealed so tightly that they pinch at the opening. The others in the series were lovely, glossy gatefold things. Still want £30 for it though.
(* it worked)
Whatās new about the standard album? Remastered or something?
Last ever track they recorded, bar Lennon who had already left.
New stereo mix by Giles Martin and mastered at half speed. Thatās about the long and the short of it as far as I can tell.
Yeah but if thatās applying to people earning the equivalent of Ā£500k a year now (and obviously 95% only applies to the top part of their earnings, and thatās before various reliefs are applied), then youāre still just listening to a very rich man complaining to you about how heās struggling to get much richer.
Yes.
theyāre fucking brilliant
got into the Beatles again, think REM opened the way for them.
