Bet it’s something to do with that GIPHY shite.
Yeah, this is really annoying. When I click the picture icon it no longer takes me to my photo gallery, but offers me either camera or files, then won’t upload any photograph.
No issues on any other website.
Has your phone done an update recently? What platform/version are you on?
I don’t want to look very old here, but I…don’t know. It’s an android phone I guess, using Chrome.
Only seems to be an issue on this site, though. Other sites take me to gallery.
Chrome settings, allow access to photos
Still can’t get this to work. Been through all permissions. Any idea?
@bugduv Can you do me a favour and:
- open a tab on Chrome
- click on the three dots in the top right
- scroll down and click “Settings”
- scroll down and click “About Chrome”
- Tell me what’s listed under “Application version” and “Operating System” (a long press on each line should copy it into your clipboard if it helps)
I’ll try and dig a bit once you’ve done that.
Chrome 130.0.6723.73
Android 10; POT-LX1 Build/HUAWEIPOT-L01
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Ta. Chrome’s bang up to date, Android is a little old, but I’d have thought it should be okay. Will try and have a dig tonight.
weirdly i cant view every photo or gif since the update, but only on my work laptop. i assume its somethign to do with where theyre hosted and the sites blocked on our work laptops? idk
Since the update… as in since we migrated off discourse and self hosted last year?
only noticed it in the last couple of weeks?
Ah, then that’s probably a work policy change, yeah, but I’ll double check nothing’s changed our side too.
Okay…
@andyvine - this is definitely work IT policy for you… nothing changed on DiS that might have caused this to suddenly happen. We probably could solve it, but would involve paying Amazon a heap of money, so… apologies.
@bugduv - still not exactly sure what’s going on for you… Your phone isn’t that old and you’re running an up to date browser, so it’s kinda strange it’s just you having this problem. I’m gonna try and do an upgrade of DiS and all the plugins before work tomorrow morning and see if that helps with anything. I can’t really see how the tenor change would have caused it, but that’s the only thing that changed around the time you started having issues, so perhaps there’s a bug that’s being triggered in Android 10 or your particular type of phone.
Will let you know once I’ve done the upgrade and ask you to check to see if it’s any better.
I’ve also confirmed that it’s just @andyvine. It’s not a company-wide restriction, they’re just finally stamping down on @andyvine
Should probably stamp down on the causes of @andyvine if they’re serious about dealing with this problem.
