He’s a winger not a striker. Think Wilson will leave and be replaced separately
these are my straws and I will clutch at them as much as I like
Oh looks like Wilson has already left, free agent now.
Wouldn’t be shocked if they kick the tyres on Calvert-Lewin as a back up striker, and maybe someone else as well, attacking options are really thin even with Elanga.
Elanga/Murphy
Isak/Osula
Gordon/Barnes
Don’t think they’ve got anyone else, looks pretty flimsy with European football
Fucking nora, is dropping 350 mil on a squad that won the league at a canter not good enough for you?
coming from a city fan this is ‘like 10 000 spoons when all you need is a knife’
but seriously, the only way we can afford Isak and at the same time replace Salah to any extent is by getting big money for Salah to go Saudi at some point. And given that Newcastle’s ultimate owners are the same people who own the Saudi league, and that the Saudi league are desperate to have him, some kind of triangle deal has to be in the offing
I reckon also that if 2026 wasn’t a Worls Cuo year that Salah would maybe not have extended his contract another 2 seasons
so yeah, in my head at least, all of this adds up
Why would Newcastle’s owners want to finance Newcastle losing their best player?
So ease the deal to bring the world’s most famous muslim footballer to the Saudi League?
Also, Newcastle apparently want Harvey Elliot too. Deals are gonna get done
Don’t think this is true. We’ve got money to spend because we haven’t for a few transfer windows and we’ve won some big stuff (and a bit in for outgoings). The owners are clearly looking to strengthen from a position of strength and it’s obvious we need a striker (I think Wirtz will play as a false 9 but we need the option).
Football would be fundamentally broken if a club can just drop £500m in one window imho.
yeah, maybe
but Isak is going be at least 120-140 million …and there’s currently no one else who’s proven in the Premiership and looks a likely replacement for when Salah goes. Plus, from the other side (although I know Newcastle don’t need the money) if Isak has a mediocre season or gets injured then his value is gonna drop considerably
anyway… this is all in my head so …yeah… pure fantasy probably
“big summer of outgoings and squad revamp, get the work done before preseason starts”
…
“Welcome to the 2nd day of pre season so far we’ve brought int £7m from elangas sell on ”
Just a bit galling when most clubs are trying to live within their means, imho.
Went to school with a girl called Chelsea Summer (true)
just spotted that additionally to Boehly spunking €464m in the 23/24 summer window he’d already spaffed €330m in the 2023 January window
€794 million in one calendar year
football has been broken for a while let’s face it
Agreed.
A slippery slope since the greed of those five clubs who thought they were bigger than the rest of the Football League.
Chelsea Sunmer?! How the heck are you gonna do that?
Just a wee Napoleon Dynamite reference in the year of our lord 2025 for you there
enjoyed it tbh
Seems United’s search for a striker has now reached the stage of paying Moise Kean’s 52m release clause, or signing one of Vardy, DCL or Wilson as a free agent.*
Relegation’s back on the menu boys.
*presumably while Hoijlund goes on loan to Italy and immediately becomes the league’s top scorer.
