I came into this thread (and out of DiS hibernation) to say that Jeanette needs putting in the bangers thread.
You beat me to it…but I’m glad I’m not the only one

Onto my third listen of the day. Really enjoying this.
On and Jeanette are probably my standouts so far.
Really enjoying this, love the Radiohead cover that opens it up. Wonder who had the idea of doing a cover of it first out of her and Lianne La Havas? Both really different and great it their own ways though.
Took me an embarrassingly long time to realise it was a cover and not just a similar song
Even when I looked at the title it still took me a minute to twig!
Loving the album and I really didn’t like what I heard prior to release so a pleasant surprise. The tracks I heard before are so much better within the context of the album.
I really like the cover, but not sure it’s the best album opener? The whole album is so strong… and the cover is a lovely thing… but (maybe just because the song is so familiar) I find it a jarring opening to the album!? Probably just me
Aside that, I really love it after 3 listens. I didn’t love the debut as much as lots of people did - this is a real step forward for me though
See also, Night
Yep, this totally bangs. I don’t know the original Weird Fishes so wouldn’t have known it was a cover. I’ve been working too hard to know which are my standouts yet, but I’m loving the whole thing right now.
It’s possible as I get more familiar with it I’ll feel the same, but it was just such a lovely and unexpected start. It’s nowhere near the best track on the album though, which gives an indication of how strong it is!
yeah, i didn’t know about it and i was kind of taken aback. It’s probably one of my favourite radiohead songs.
yep!
Night is the definite banger on the record, people.
That’s a weird way of spelling Melt
This is lovely so far. I picked up her first album in a charity shop about a year ago (and even then because it was a Smalltown Supersound release and they’re good peoples) and liked it but it didn’t blow my mind or anything. This is a significant improvement. Loving the way Jeanette opens up.
The melody in On reminds me of Yesterday When I Was Mad by Pet Shop Boys.
Thanking you.
It’s really great!
Gonna wait until I pick it up in my local record shop for my first listen.
All these positive comments are making me giddy with anticipation.
Really enjoying this. On and Night keep catching my ear every time they come around, but more and more of it is opening up with each listen. Looking forward to my Dinked edition coming in the post…
