Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild

yeah death is almost of no consequence really

There are a few ways to do that section. And also a route that is more direct and obvious (if you find it), versus one I took that involved tenuous leaping around and mountain climbing.

I’ll spoiler theses tips, from how I cheesed it first through to other methods - click on any subsequent tip if the former isn’t of use:

a) I picked some peppers and cooked up a batch that meant you are resistant to cold for a brief while. The more peppers you add, the long the effect lasts. And then I sprinted to get to the top before it ran out, avoiding enemies.

b) Another way to do it is there is a clothing item around that keeps you warm for most of the trek up there. The side mission is in a house you may have seen in a forest…

c) You can make fire whenever you want if you have that jelly, as mentioned above OR if you select wood and flint from your inventory and drop them on the ground, and hit them with something metal. It causes a spark and lights a fire! Something I didn’t realise until about 80 hours in

d) And this one is so, so logical, I cannot believe it took me until my second 100+ hour playthrough to learn it. If you hold a lit torch or have a flame-imbued weapon on your back, then congrats! It simply keeps you warm… simple eh?

Yeah infinite lives effectively.

You have to hit the jelly to make it explode so normally I do it with an arrow to save getting hit myself

Once you realise that the elements really behave like the elements in this game, it changes everything.

Want to burn that field down? Set fire to it. Need something to get fire from a to b? Get some wood. Want to keep cool? Hold something cold. etc

You only get about 5 save points. So if you go too far from an important one you might have lost it to autosaves, sorry

even as a seasoned zelda fan i struggled to get my head around how important cooking is, especially to begin with. if you get stuck, the answer is either you have a power that you’ve forgotten about because you haven’t used it in ages or you need to cook more stuff.

I also learned yesterday that if you carry a large weapon above you with magnesis, like a Lynel Crusher, it provides shade and keeps you cool.

Haha, no way! That game is insane…

ffs that’s amazing. I did know you could get shade from rocky overhangs (helps with fires in the rain),…but not weapons!

Yeah, crazy. Has to be suitably big. Haven’t tried it with a shield actually…

Most chests will have some weapons in or maybe rupees. Not sure there’s anything you have to have for puzzles in them. But it’s important you work out how to get such things for future shrine quests etc.

Spoiler to do it: your magic runes

I got a wooden korok from the internet and I move it about the house when Dr Mrs Epimer isn’t looking

Ah, that’s cool. My sons birthday in a few weeks - got him a fair bit of Zelda tat, including one of these…

We’re at obsession levels now.

You know I’ve always thought it was weird that Lynel’s carried weapons specifically named for their ability to crush them, but I’ve just twigged that they’re crushers owned by Lynels. I didn’t make this mistake with Lynel bows. Stupid brain.

You use the spirit orbs to give you extra stamina or hearts. So you want to do a bunch of shrines.

Go to the east dot yeah. Between the peaks you’ll find a stable just after. Then go north to Karakiko (?) village

You have to catch your own horse. A person at the stable will tell you how . Speak to each person at the stable as they tend to give you hints or help.

So some shrines have the puzzle on the outside but not many. I sort of prefer that as they tend to be easier or at least easier to understand how to complete them, but that flowers one is frustrating.

I fucked up one of the DB’s (in a good way, now it’s my mate) but am loathe to continue the rest of the main quest cause just titting about is so much fun. Killed a guardian on Monday, almost woke up the street celebrating.

Daughter is itching to go up death mountain after we took a close look the other day but I’m trying to resist. Have also done the obligatory trip to the castle and then ran away. Good times.

My horses are called Banjo and Boomerang.

Game is ridiculously good.

I mean this isn’t entirely unreasonable!
