Looking for London restaurant recommendations

Hello! I’m looking for recommendations for great London restaurants for a special occasion in December. Since we had a baby I’m a bit out of the loop on what’s good and maybe fairly new (but doesn’t have to be).

Only criteria are that it’s somewhere that takes reservations as I don’t want to risk a walk-ins only place. East, North or Central preferably but again not essential. Type of food or price not really an issue for now.

The last few places we went and enjoyed were Brawn, Cornerstone and Oren, if that information’s any use.

I’ve been to two nice modern Indian restaurants recently, both in soho. Kricket and Gunpowder. Both 10/10 deliciousness.

Last time in London we went to Jose Pizarro near London Bridge and it was fine, not amazing, and quite expensive. (Tapas)

Cheers

Last couple of places I went to that I really enjoyed were Brutto and Session Arts Club, both in Clerkenwell. Both get booked up quite quickly though I think. Sessions Arts Club the more fancy of the two - really great building.

Also still really like Noble Not (the Soho one) and Brat.

I too have some free afternoons booked off with my partner when my sons at school and we’ve booked Mountain and Fallow for lunches. Hear they’re both good.

I went to Honey & Co recently and it was phenomenal, beautiful middle eastern food. I’ve also heard great things about the Quality Chop House

Came here to recommend this. Lovely location, fancy but not OTT pricy, great food.

This place is great too but slightly harder to get to on public transport.

The tasting menu at Ikoyi is a truly special experience.

Brat also great. One of the few places I’ve been to where the food, service and vibe is 10/10 across the board.

you know you want to come south east…

the blue room in crofton park is like a little pop up restuarant in someone’s living room. £50/head with non alcoholic drinks included (BYO if you want booze), five courses… it’s amazing

there is very little information online about it but according to their facebook they are still going

Oh, also Pidgin.

If you like(d) Hope Of The States, it’s the excellent place run by Sam Herlihy alongside James Ramsden.

If you don’t like(d) Hope Of The States, it’s still one of the very best little restaurants in London

Most of my good recommendations are South East London because obviously that’s the best, but if I was going for a nice meal centrally I’d probably go Sketch…

Hello mates. Going to London mid-March to see Totoro.

Any recommendations for nice restaurants or drinking places in and around the Barbican?

We’re flying into Stansted so would also take any recommendations for best ways of getting into the city. (guessing Stansted express?)

Cheers.

There’s not a massive amount around the Barbican as it’s in the City, so everything there is a chain and/or overpriced for what it is. Depending on what sort of cuisine you’re after you’d probably be better off looking around Spitalfields Market (which is across the road from Liverpool Street where the Stansted Express drops you off) or potentially venturing slightly further east.

Thanks Steved, would take any recommendations you have for things that are a few tube stops away in any direction if you have any?

Rochelle Canteen mentioned above is walkable (15 minutes or so) from Liverpool Street and is great if it suits your taste/budget, Manteca is nearby too. Tayyabs is an amazing Panjabi place near Whitechapel station (1 stop on the Elizabeth Line) that does the most incredible lamb chops if you’re a meat eater, would thoroughly recommend a trip there.
