As someone mentioned above Dust by Screaming Trees is a classic. Blues Funeral and Whiskey best solo.
His albums with Isobel Campbell are great.
Apparently, the man himself doesnāt like it and finds it āembarrassingā now. I disagree
Sorry, replied to completely the wrong post there, that was to @spiritofjazz
I replied to the wrong post, heās embarrassed about Scraps At Midnight not the stuff he did with Isobel Campbell
Really? Never heard about that.
His exact words were āif I heard it today Iād totally cringeā
Probably just gives it a 15 minute beat down
Has god seen my shadow is an excellent collection of his acoustic stuff from across his solo career. Bubblegum and blues funeral best rock albums imo. Recent albums have felt a little same-y but I always buy them out of blind tribal loyalty ā¦
My favourite is probably the best of mark lanegan.
Mark Lanegan: The Hits
Iāll get my coatā¦
*The hits - him hitting someone then them hitting the floor (15 minute version)
lmfao
He must be a bit surprised by the attention this book is getting. Fair enough heās gone in quite hard on some people in it but heās always seem like a man of little fuss
Iāve seen him live once. I think it was a Twilight Singers gig rather than officially Gutter Twins but it was around that time.
Greg and the band did a few songs and had the crowd really going then they wheeled Lanegan out for a couple of numbers. All life and joy had been sucked out of the room by the time he stumbled backstage for his next fix. Greg & co launch back into it and after a bit all is forgiven. Until Markās second appearance on stage pulls the same trick.
tl;dr Greg Dulli is one of the most consistently intense and enjoyable live performers going. Mark Lanegan almost ruined that.
Iāve seen him live a few times. Screaming Trees, solo, Isobel Campbell and Soulsavers. Brilliant every time. Especially the Trees
Ohh and The Gutter Twins who were brilliant too
Iāve seen him guest with the Twilight Singers and with the Gutter Twins. Great both times ![]()
Itās weird that I never looked into his solo material given how much I love his cameos.
He sings the two best Queens of the Stone Age songs:
His song on the Mad Season album is fantastic:
Classic album-closing duet with Greg Dulli on the second Twilight Singers album:
And the best Gutter Twins song:
