Marseille

I’ve heard it’s great

I’ve also heard it’s awful

What’s the deal?

I wanna go but never been

Think it’s been a bit gentrified, which is a probably good and bad thing

It does not have a good rep in other parts of France, but other parts of France are very racist and snobby

Yeah this is what I figured, that the reputation is laced with a lot of racism. Looks a beautiful and interesting place to me, but I’ll report back in a few weeks

We are thinking about going there at some point in the next couple of years, combining it with some train hopping along the riviera.

And we want to treat ourselves to a night or two here

Some really gritty bits and really beautiful bits but yeah, will be on a par with Lisbon or something in a couple of years in terms of gentrification vs tourism death spiral. I enjoyed it.

Thought it was lovely but the room we had just had a curtain seperating the toilet and the bedroom so it will forever be a cursed destination imo

I’m going there next month

Only been through it, but I love how quickly you can get there via Paris by train. And then you’ve got most of the south coast of France accessible by train

What dates babe

17th-20th July at present, first stop of interrailing

Shame, I’ll miss you. We could’ve shared a croissant like the Lady and the Tramp.

When you there?

First few days of the month

Ships in the days and nights between you leave and I arrive

If I was a good footballer I’d either play for Marseille or Roma purely for quality of life

Ooh, we’ll be interrailing in your vicinity a few days after (Antibes from 24 July)

Ah I’m not sure where I’ll be maybe a little further round the coast as aiming to be around Pisa/Lucca the weekend after
