Older guy in his 70s came the shop today asking me for Silversun Pickups CDs. Ended up chatting music. Turns out this guy is basically into 00s Pitchfork-core alt/indie and his current taste is my iPod/CD collection circa 2009.
“Some of us pensioners do have good taste” he said. It was great. He kept mentioning bands he’d discovered online to see if we had any of their albums he doesn’t have. Almost every time I was like, hang on, they were one of the first bands I ever saw live.
We chatted about The Decemberists, Band of Horses, Starsailor, Silversun Pickups, Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Shins, Metric, Smashing Pumpkins, and Grandaddy.
Anyway, there is zero point to this thread other than to say, this man was nice. And i have no idea why his Apple Music album list that he showed me was basically a copy and paste of my old ipod.
best bit of the job innit. I had a good chat with someone the other day comparing the amount of different variants of First And Last And Always we’d bought between us
