I’m probably massively in the minority with this one, but did anyone here like that band Midget from the late 90s?
Their most popular release was undoubtedly their debut EP Alco-Pop from 1997, but I had a bit of a soft spot for them and listened to them quite a bit.
Anyway, I was having a nostalgia moment last night and discovered that they actually released two more albums than I thought they had. Their last one was a Japan-only release, bizarrely.
Found their final album The Milgram Experiment on YouTube (none of their music is on any streaming services as far as I know), which on first play actually sounds pretty decent
There’s also an album called Individual Inconsistent from 2000 but I can’t find it anywhere other than to buy the CD from Amazon, and to get it to the Netherlands the postage costs are 3 times that of the cost of the CD. Can anyone help me out with this one (slide into my DMs)?
I was a big fan as a kid and Individual Inconsistent is actually their best record in my opinion – very surprised it’s not on streaming anywhere. There must be so many blank spots around that era of albums that fell through the cracks and don’t have a digital presence.
Richard from the band did this podcast interview which may be of interest
After a long term lurking, this pushed me to sign up with an account and engage! Yes indeed - they were a great band - a stream of great singles, I rinsed the mini album and first proper…live shows were fun too - lots of good bands around that time - including The Samurai Seven, Inter etc…Will give that You Tube an album a go…thanks for the reminder!
Ha, i used to like these. Think i have all the 7 inches somewhere up to the first full length. They were fun but can’t remember what they actually sounded like! I too am surprised they carried on a bit. i may check them out
I’ve got a few CD singles by these guys. “Welcome Home Jellybean” is always the go-to answer in our friend group when we mention oft-forgotten songs released during the Britpop years.
I remember back when I read Kerrang! and Jelly Belly actually sponsored them or something off the back of that song. I might be misremembering this though.
