🐗 🦞 New Releases 20.9.24 🦞🐗

No CD edition of the Sunset Rubdown album :frowning:
(will still purchase the digital edition of course, but I always prefer a CD!)

Nubya Garcia - Odyssey

Tenor saxophone-led jazz. Gerogia Anne Muldrew and Esperanza Spalding features.

Lutalo - The Academy

Vermont indie rock, really liked their Again EP from last year which I think I found through this thread.

Rrose x Polygonia - Dermatology

Collaborative album - techno with added drones

More Eaze - lacuna and parlor

Never seems to do the same thing twice, this is smeared chamber music, properly lovely and slight unsettling in equal measure

Photay - Windswept

More ambient-jazzy-breakbeat business

Death by Gong - Descalator

90’s style, bass led, alt rock. All very slow and moody till the last few tracks rock out in a shoegaze kind of way.

Louse – Passions Like Tar
Post-punk / New-wave

Like some mutated phantom lurking in the shadows, Cincinnati based new-wave punks Louse emerge into light with their debut LP Passions Like Tar- a heady and sullen collection of post-punk hits. Louse have been crafting hypnotic, dense gothy anthems since forming in 2021, and continue to do so with Passions like Tar. Since their conception, the group consistently deliver 80’s era-correct, modulated, guitar-driven punk that is informed by bands like Killing Joke, Bauhaus, and Christian Death, but delivered with their uniquely coloured angular riffs and fevered, anguished vocals

Otay:onii - True Faith Ain’t Blind
Piano-based freak folk? As if Joanna Newsom decided to scream and wail like she’s in Belleville Rendezvous or Scatman John. Thankfully some songs are more pretty and less intense, but all quite interesting.

Discobole Orchestra - Kafé Gryé

Part jazz and part desert blues collective from France and Reunion Island off the coast of Madagascar as far as I can tell. A loose feel with great energy - really enjoying this
