little sneaky early thread launch because I’m very excited about
The Early Years - Modern Moonlight
Long awaited (10 years!) third album from one of London’s finest purveyors of psychy hypnotic krautgaze. Expecting big repetitive grooves and some lovely swirling melodies
Out on wednesday -Tokyo producer who creates dreamy electronica built from old VHS tapes in second hand shops. Runner up in the previous ML round with a track from this album, so DiS endorsed!
Includes a gorgeous cover of Yo La Tengo’s Our Way To Fall.
Arvo Pärt pieces arranged for eight cellos, the result of a 10 year collaboration between the Cello Octet Amsterdam and the legendary Estonian composer.
Hannah Peel & Beibei Wang - The Endless Dance
Northern Irish composer bringing the electronic elements to combine with Wang’s percussion work using temple bells, water percussion and rice bowls.
Bill Orcutt & Mabe Fratti - Almost Waking
Remote collaboration with Mabe adding cello (and dreamy vocals on two of the eight tracks) to Bill’s spiky guitar meanderings. Interesting combination - I think it just about works.
Marisa Anderson - The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music Vol. 1
Portland experimental guitarist with these interpretations of folk songs from the private record collection of the late Harry Smith, which focus on “music from places that the United States has been in conflict with since 1970: Southeast Asia, the USSR and the Arabic and Islamic regions of the world”.
Second album from folky droney doomy Irish act featuring Lankum’s Ian Lynch and noise musician George Brennan. First album is one of my favourites of the last few years so very excited to let this wash over me.
