What’s everyone got lined up today?
New Mogwai
Matt Berry
New Ditz album Never Exhale. FFO Golla Band
Also my bands new single , which was debuted on Radio 6 this week. Is now up on streaming.
FFO Chat Pile , Future of the Left
FKA twigs - EUSEXUA
The big one today for me. According to the Quietus, FKA twigs’ third album “makes a compelling case for the liberation offered by the dancefloor.” Co-produced by twigs and regular collaborator Koreless.
Phatness - Fillerkiller
On Studio Barnhus. From the Bandcamp page, Phatness is “the mysterious side project of two Stockholm producers with connections to Trensum Tribe, Soft Pace, Otonos and other more or less shadowy institutions of Swedish soundsystem culture… On their joint debut Fillerkiller, true-school junglist rhythmics scatter around in a glorious haze of sounds sourced from the most unexpected places.”
Ale Hop & Titi Bakorta - Mapambazuko
Loved the first single from this so looking forward to the album. Psychedelic Peruvian rhythms meet Congolese soukous on Nyege Nyege records. Features a KMRU remix as a bonus.
The Great Old Ones - Kadath
New album of Lovecraftian black metal from France
DITZ is the big one for me today but will also be checking out Mogwai and…
Young Knives – Landfill
Indie Rock / Post-punk
Their last album Barbarians was killer
Benjamin Booker - LOWER
Dreamy bluesy indie garage hybrid, first album since 2017. Produced by rap-beatmaker-king Kenny Segal - very intriguing combo and on first listen there’s some great atmospherics on here
FFO Young Fathers, Callum Easter
New Anna B Savage album for me.
First couple of singles have been excellent.
Wata Igarashi - Kaleidoscopic EP
Acid tech-trance from the Japanese producer and DJ who gave us Agartha in 2023.
Streaming now with the Bandcamp release scheduled for 31 Jan
Motherhood – Thunder Perfect Mind
Art Rock
Open Head – What Is Success
Noise Rock / Post-punk
lovely emoji choices
horsegiirL - v.i.p. very important pony

EP of chaotic euro hardstyle gabber nonsense
Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds - That Delicious Vice
That Delicious Vice finds the band doing their usual garage/psychedelic soulful Chicano rock n’ roll at the peak of their powers
Laura Cahen – De l’Autre Côté
French singer-songwriter’s third album, of which I’ve heard the first four tracks so far. Lovely strings on this courtesy of Joséphine Stephenson along with atmospheric synth work from Mike Lindsay of Tunng, coming together with Cahen’s floaty vocals to make a lush collection of (at least four) songs.
Taffy - Lull
Sixth album from this Tokyo indie band. The vocalist Iris sounds like Ragnhild from Pom Poko, though Taffy’s music maybe skews a bit less punky and a bit more poppy. Really enjoyed what I’ve heard so far.
Blue Violet - Faux Animaux
London duo’s second album with a mix of electro pop uptempo ones and some indie-emo slower ones. Quite enjoyed the pre-release tracks though they didn’t massively stick. I saw them supporting Echobelly in December and they were the highlight of the night.
Tunng - Love You All Over Again
New Tunng is always very welcome. Folk with layered vocals, glitchy beats and samples
