Absolutely nothing that was not expected here. Which is a good thing. A very very good thing. V is a fantastic addition to the Shjips oeuvre … pressing repeat play now :grinning:

New album by a band called Lithics - new to me but the Norman review grabbed my attention - ‘Parquet Courts’ momentum crossed with The Ex’s Knottiness’. Will be giving that a go.

Enjoying that Pusha T record. It actually fits quite neatly into my commute.

Saw Halo Maud at Great Escape last week and really enjoyed her. Her debut is out this week so will defo give that a spin Went in with no knowledge and was one of the best bands of the weekend, kind of Bjork, kind of Blonde Redhead. not heard the album, this is based off of hazy memories that I have seeing her live

also looking forward to this!

Not massively enthused by the Chvrches songs I’ve heard so far, but that’s still my one album to get this week.

Quite hungover so gonna go for floaty easy stuff, namely these two:

Wooden Shjips - V
Bernice - Puff: In The Air Without A Shape

Singles from both were great so high hopes. Also listened to most of the Parliament album yesterday (1 hour 47 minutes long!) and was into it. It’s best when it’s really silly, but the other stuff is just like listening to a pretty good rnb radio station. I have the hook “riddle me this, motherfucker, riddle me that” in my head and it’s enjoyable

SVALBARD! SVALBARD! SVALBARD!

Honestly think that this is the best thing they’ve ever done based on one listen in the car this morning. Going to link this straight to the heavy music thread.

A lot of metal/heavy rock has “anger” as the default setting but with the topics (abortion, internet misogyny etc) dealt with here it feels like she’s really utilising that anger and doing something with it, focusing and directing it. The guitars sound amazing too. Love it!

My housemates band release an EP today. He used to be the drummer in band called Nosferatu D2 who some may remember @1101010 & @anon5266188 especially.

Anyway here you go.

Oofttt not feeling Chvrches

Very quiet day after last week,so will check out Jenny Hval & will go back to some of the stuff that I’ve not gotten around to from last week (Gas for starters)

The new Uada and Wayfarer albums are the only things I really want to check out this week.

May also give this Svalbard record a go following the effusive praise above.

Plenty to enjoy on both Daytona and Testing but my pick of this mornings releases has got to be Wooden Shjips latest which is very hypnotic and mellow indeed!

Daytona absolutely slaps. The production is so good. Here’s hoping it ushers in a wave of concise rap projects.

Chvrches is just OK on first listen. Massive fan of the first two albums so it will probably grow on me. At the moment though I am reaching the end of the album and I’m kind of waiting for it to be over. There’s so much other good stuff around at the moment.

Bad how Chvrches so blatantly peaked with their first single eh

possibly with their second single, but yeah

Wait, The Mother We Share was the first one right?
