These threads are one of my favourite things on the internet. Nothing I was excited about today but going to check out Softcult and Blackwater Holylight based on their descriptions. Two bands I would probably have never heard of if it wasnāt for this thread.
Watched Joyce Manorās Whatās In My Bag? yesterday and remembered why I love them so much, reckon the bassist and I should be best friends.
Will give this a blast. Love a bit of Joyce Manor. Remember the only time I saw them was with @d_k and they played like 30 songs or something ridiculous. Hooray for sub 2 minute bangers!
New SƩbastien Tellier
Quite a few for today. Iām a bit behind so lacking in descriptions. Butā¦.
The Soft Pink Truth - Can Such Delightful Times Go On Forever
Sounds like a film soundtrack atm. Enjoying it though. Very twee. Canāt tell if thatās ironic or not yet, got it on now.
Shackleton - Euphoria Bound
Electronic weirdness.
xaviersobased - Xavier
Of all the new wave of US rappers, my fave by a mile. Kinda noisy alt rap Iād guess.
Frankie & Kelman Duran - McArthur
Donāt know much about this but Kelman Duran should have modern legend status so will always check his stuff out!
This is why we need decent reviews btw. This album is really quite different, and I need to read about it!
A. G. Cook - The Moment (The Score)
Hyperpop producer turns his hand to scoring for his pal Charli XCXās film.
Also this came out yest:
fakemink - The Boy Who Cried Terrified
EP I guess at just over 15 mins. His stuff always teeters on the edge of absolute naff, but generally I really like it. This wonāt be for everyone, but I am really enjoying it. Cool use of Burial.
Looking forward to this, heās a stunning producer, even if I do wish heād say bitch a little less frequently than every other word
Geologist - Can I Get a Pack of Camel Lights?
Animal Collective member, I assume doing instrumental weirdness.
Shakarchi & StranƩus - Anchor Songs
New EP on Studio Barnhus. From Bandcamp:
A spectacular return for Shakarchi & StranĆ©us, the legendary Gothenburg duoās soft-focus magic in full display on four new tracks, the first of many to come. Longtime Studio Barnhus heads will rejoice in familiar bliss from tracks like dreamhouse extravaganza āDonut Plainsā and the triphop wonkiness of āSandy Balls Resortā, while āEmerald Hillsā and āRoyal Linksā offer new, exciting pathways leading to unexpected territories and increased bpm levels.
dreamhouse extravaganza is about right. good stuff.
Chorus of 16/25 will be a fun one for people to scream out
Think Queen of Nothing is an instant hit too, proper banger.
this is a really good read - an essay by Drew Daniel on why heās made a chamber music album in trying times - good context Edithās Diary: Drew Daniel on Creating Art under Fascism | The Quietus
Only had a chance to check out a fewā¦
Plantoid - Flare - LP
Prog math rock from Brighton. I really liked their first album, Terrapath, and so far liking this one despite being a little more tame. Surprised no one else has suggested it. Fave Track: The Weaver

Natsumi Hirota - Timelogue - EP
Pounding industrial & tribal beats, that apparently are ābuilt upon rhythms found within spoken languageā, not sure if I actually notice that, but its fun to work to. Fave Track: Dialogue
Songlink
Nonna Fab - Deeper Dance Archives - LP
Its house music but with a little bit extra going on rhythm wise. Had it on in the background and enjoyed what I heard. Fave Track: Ebb & Flow (feat. Veronica Melkonian)

First release of the year for me. little 2min lofi / chillhop track -
Tyler Ballgame - For the First Time, Again
Debut record for the much hyped American singer. Mixing classic rock n roll, Americana and 60s/70s singer songwriters like Tim Buckley. Big brooding croon.
Albums been getting some lukewarm reviews mindā¦
Thank you!
Finding this guyās voice extremely polarising. Sounds like every American emo / pop punk singer rolled into one. The girlās verses though, lovely.
Totally ignore this, wrong release
