🦞 🎵 New releases 5/7/24 Keir Starmer edition 🦞

May Chi - postcards

Delicately crafted mini-album-bordering-on-actual-album from Loughbrough-based, Hong Kong-born, Birmingham Conservatoire-trained musician.

Each song navigates the complexity of human relationships; the blossoming of unexpected friendships, queer love, the heartbreak and conflicting emotions surrounding the ending of intimate companionships, and the wistfulness while reflecting on past relationships.

Postcards is a departure from my previously synth and vocal harmony saturated sound in my previous releases, and instead features a more intimate and minimalistic songwriting approach.

Didn’t realise this was the new releases thread and thought it was a Starmer parody thread. 14 years would have worked!

I liked it a bit more than you, but it did seem to wash over me. Will revisit I think!

Can I offer you all a new Veins Full of Static single in these trying times?

Album out Aug 2nd. It’s about the slow entropy of a purgatorial dreamstate as a consciousness fades into death. Sounds like Starmer’s Britain to me, eh? SATIRE!

Eagle eyed/eared DiSers might recognise the bones of it from Jamuary 2023.

Very enjoyable collaboration between Middle Eastern psych/funk/disco outfit Sababa 5 and Japanese pop singer and belly dancer Yurika Hanashima.

Kayla Painter - Ambient Owl Core vol. 2

Tracks inspired by the world of the night; the secrets shared and stories told, as we lay peacefully asleep.

Featuring field recordings of urban and rural Owls, found sounds, and moments of life.

Just to keep things on-theme, I should point out that Kayla Painter is an anagram of Keir A La Panty. Coincidence?

What band is it? Just in case it’s something I enjoy :dotted_line_face:

Akhlys. Last album is probably my favourite black metal album if that’s what black metal is

Oh yeah I know them. Fortunately they don’t do much for me but good to know anyway

I have the first album, it’s dinner party electro… Their very first single was amazing but yeah not in a huge rush to pick this one up.

Various Artists - fabric presents The Streets

Two new The Streets tracks bookend this latest fabric mix with Mike Skinner on curation duties, so expecting a fair amount of UK garage on this.

New album from my mate Dan, who records as Fixity, among other names.

Expect jazz/psych/krautrock if the highest calibre.

Here are the credits, if only to demonstrate his instrumental abilities.

Dan Walsh - Drums, Bass, Synthesizer, Piano, Bass Recorder, Guitar, Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Flutes, Voice.
