New York Times Mini Crossword ⚔

no chance anyone here could get 4A off the bat, but 1A and 1/2/3D in a row got it going

Ah, well if you’re doing the daily crossword then that answer comes up frequently along with a bunch of other weird ones - Acer (computers), Rosa Parks (either of her names), TSA, etc.

However, I only tried it after first seeing Baja didn’t work and wasn’t really sure about the cabs thing but I guess it’s because you would use a taxi to visit vineyards so you could get drunk

hmm fair, but I still feel a bit like an American trying to answer a UK puzzle that just said “a place you can get a bus to in London - Soho”

Oh sure, it is hard and I’m only really disputing the ‘no chance’ bit in a very particular way. If I hadn’t been doing the daily for the last few months I wouldn’t have had a clue.

Got 4A before I got 5,6, & 7A.

I knew it would be a wine thing but guessed lodi because someone I know has just been there on holiday.

Biggest irk today was actually 7A, which I reckon is probably human.

Omnivore? :person_shrugging:t3:

One of the many answers today where I just tried it and didn’t expect it to be correct.

1:30. That threw me off massively

Despite knowing them, my brain was otherwise occupied and I blanked for ages on the weapon and the author.
