NFL Week 5- London Calling

Another of the gross, swinging d*ck, toxic macho old guard gone.
How many left?

I know, the thing that’s good about this is that it’s the more lower-level email shit. He’s not been caught on tape ā€˜accidentally’ using a slur. He’s been consistently using awful abusive language in emails which highlights the cultural issue. I expect there are a lot of coaches and staff (and players) who are suddenly feeling very nervous. Imagine all the awful things that scouts and recruiters will have said about potential players. I hope and expect we see a lot more of this coming to a head.

Makes his attempts to defend the earlier emails look even more ridiculous.

ā€œActually that’s a term I often use to describe liars, and I am OUTRAGED that you would suggest-ā€
ā€œWhat about these emails?ā€
ā€œI’ll see myself outā€

Oh completely agree! Positive steps however they’ve come about. Just makes you realise how fucking all-pervading and accepted this attitude has been (and probably still is to a significant extent).

I doubt it tbh, given that their employers hold all of the same awful attitudes as they do. Jeff Ireland asked Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute during a pre-draft interview, but Ireland has remained gainfully employed by the NFL ever since (unlike Bryant).

Wonder how much Nassib being on the team contributed to his/the raiders’ decision?

Think it’s an example of how important visibility can be and the wider impacts it can have

Wasn’t really aware of the Gruden situation until he was gone. Need to win one of those win probability charts except it’s Meyer and Gruden in a most likely to lose their job poll.

Obviously completely right that’s out, but as others have said, how many others will be exactly the same as him? And are ESPN going to cop any flak for employing him while he was it?

Can’t help but think that Mark Davis is also thanking his lucky stars that he doesn’t have to keep paying Gruden for years to come. Or he would if he had any sense, which I’m not sure he does.

Another absolute stormer of a MNF game too BTW

I’m a bit surprised that Gruden has turned out like this, but I don’t really know why. Turns out he’s just another charmless NFL dinosaur doing and saying the things that charmless NFL dinosaurs do and say. Good that he’s gone, another small step in the right direction.

Absurd game. Ravens couldn’t do a thing right in the first half, then Lamar turned the dial from Stoppable to Unstoppable and that was that. 107 yards passing at HT, 442 by the finish. Ludicrous.

Currently fifth in passing yards and eighth in rushing in the league. Ludicrous

Now if he’d just get vaccinated i can start rooting for him again :joy:

He’s doing his research!

It’s a busy time of year for him, tbf.

I didn’t know the score going in but the length of the YouTube recap video certainly suggested something was afoot when I watched this morning

Fuck The Colts :sunglasses:

Agree with this but the fact that a white guy has come out might have leant more power to the anti-discrimination voice than decades of endless unabashed racism towards a pretty damn visible 95% of the league is…well it’s stroking my ā€˜inherent white privilege’ button*.

*i’m obviously fully team LGTBQ+ here and a good outcome is a good outcome no matter what, but doesn’t mean the part of the road we’ve just travelled down shouldn’t be looked back at.

Edit: haven’t researched Nassib’s heritage and if he’s from a BAME background then i apologise wholeheartedly for my ignorance.

Not sure but assume the surname Nassib has North African/Middle Eastern roots

Honestly what is going on with the state of kicking this season, seemed like no one made a single one across the whole weekend!

Oh except my boy Justin Tucker of course

Did see the very good point though that this is why the league settled with Kaep. Imagine what would’ve come to light if conversations between execs had been subpoenaed and brought to light.

Season as a whole - fine, bang on (or even above) average. Week 5 - absolute bloodbath.

That doesn’t even cover the fact that loads of them were to win games as well. Mason Crosby in particular can be very thankful that he has 14 years of distinguished service for the Packers.
