wanted to ask if people had an great ways of sharing new music, a great friend of mine from school and I do something every month called 10tastic and have done for at least 2 years now. I am taking no credit for it as it was his idea and not mine.
What we essentially do is create a playlist of 10 tunes whether they new, old that we have been listening to or discovered that we like in the previous month. We both love it and have other that partake now too. We have been to some great gigs recently on the back of it too, Girls of the internet and Bolis Pupil being two that spring to mind. (we also sometimes have 11 tracks if we cannot whittle it down) here are the last two months we both shared as examples.
I set up Music league at work and whilst everyone’s really into it (c. 35 people) and it’s genuienely really brought everyone together and is the main topic of conversation most of the time, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever done. The music is appalling.
I created a Music League for friends last year, invited a couple of coworkers that I knew had decent tastes. Aside from some people on both sides failing to commit for a whole league, it wasn’t half bad. I mentioned ML to some other coworkers, who expressed interest in doing an office league, but basically I backed into a bush because I knew it would result in appalling music and frustrate me to no end. Even some friends shared appalling music. Have stopped running my own leagues for a while now.
Anyway Music League, good way to share & discover new music.
Sharing playlists with friends isn’t new or novel, but I do like the idea of having a regular cadence of sharing and limited tracks. I used to share quarterly playlists and yearly best-of playlists on my social networks, but those places aren’t what they used to be.
